From a trader: Let pirates pirate in whatever they want - Lightman - 08-04-2007 I know this may have been mentioned before, but I must admit that it gets boring trading around Sirius. I think pirating would be far more attractive to people if they could use whatever ship they wanted. Traders would probably complain at the increased difficulty but I would rather have a hard time trading than an incredibly easy time ^^ From a trader: Let pirates pirate in whatever they want - Panzer - 08-04-2007 Trade is boring, because it takes long. A cargospace upgrade would sort that out, combined with another price raise on the biggest warships. From a trader: Let pirates pirate in whatever they want - Fellow Hoodlum - 08-04-2007 So pirating in a battleship then ? Then people would be trading in battleships to counter that, then the whole server would just be battleships. Lets call it Discovery Capital Ship Mod then ... If you want trading to be harder, just use a smaller ship and trade the most pirated routes. Don't blame the balance for your ease of making money. Its entirely up to you how much you make ... Hoodlum From a trader: Let pirates pirate in whatever they want - Victor - 08-04-2007 Or pirates could just pirate in strategic points of the famous trade route... if I were running a faction, I would place two groups of pirates in one system that's working together - one at the entering Jumphole and one at the exit. If one group is chasing, then they can inform the other to intercept (1 or 2 pirates per group)... but that's just me... From a trader: Let pirates pirate in whatever they want - fwolf - 08-04-2007 Transports with bigger cargo space = NO. We have enough. You can make 40 million in a large train in just one hour in the Cambridge - Corfu route. With this money you can buy a gunboat and arm it. Another two hours and you can buy the capital armor upgrade VI. What more you want? Buy the Battlestar XX with 128 nomad turrets? Pirates in cruisers = YES. It will made the traders hire escorts, and this will bring more roleplaying to the server. Actually this server is more PvP than RP. I try to do my best, but those rules are very restrictive. Less rules means more freedom for roleplaying. Theres five different cruiser-class ships for the pirates, and the mercenaries can use the bounty hunter destroyer for escorting traders. Pirates in battleships = Maybe. It can be a overkill for traders. Also the battleships will stuck at asteroids fields, which can be frustrating for those who dont flew one before. From a trader: Let pirates pirate in whatever they want - Lightman - 08-04-2007 Traders won't be able to trade effectively in Battleships though, which offsets their strength. The cargo space in the largest of BS is relatively small compared to the largest transport. Also the bigger capital ships have immense difficulty operating along certain routes because of asteroids and such, which would balance the pirating in a Cruiser/BS because they would struggle to pursue the retreating trader on some trade routes. From a trader: Let pirates pirate in whatever they want - Sonja - 08-04-2007 I think that most of these problems can be solved if a trader can be killed as many times as the pirate wants too until the trader pays up. This way, pirates can essentially charge extortionate amounts. And if the targets move off to another trade route, the pirates follow. In fact, for larger pirate organisations, they can cover multiple trade routes at once, therefore alleviating the perceived benefit of moving off into another trade route. If pirate organisations actually used the idea of "turf" then turfwars for particular routes could be an addition to unlawful politics. But what Victor said is like a toll system. You have one tolling the people going one way, and the other tolling the people going the other way. Sees reasonable to me, as no one should ever pirate alone unless they know what they are doing. From a trader: Let pirates pirate in whatever they want - X-Lancer - 08-04-2007 pirating in a BS...trader has no chance to run..2 inferno..shield down...2 Battlerazor+the other turrets...BOOM.........pirate in cruiser........Corsairs's Huntress sucks(sure,,,we can steal a Liberty Cruiser..when SA is not there......XD)...pirate in GB.....not much damage taken.....and some trader using fighter's turret.......fire power=a GB..... From a trader: Let pirates pirate in whatever they want - Gamazson - 08-04-2007 :sleep:Cruisers and battleships will make pirating harder. In case you haven't noticed the best trade routes run through asteroid fields. Instead of the pirate having the advantage of the trader not being able to fly, it will be reversed. Not mention I would run, and Traders have thrusters, cap ships do not. Yah you will have a large amount firepower but its not going to make life any easier. And I must point out that I would never pay a pirate in such a large ship. Oh yah, you are pretty darn easy to see coming. I get visual of cruisers before they even show up on my scanner. From a trader: Let pirates pirate in whatever they want - darkguardian - 08-04-2007 I agree with Hoodlum, If you people actually know how to pirate it would be quite simple actually, But all I see is lone pirates with no CD trying to take down a train..Not gona work. |
