Really, the title says it all. It would be nice if every major faction got their own special piece of technology, more powerful/different from the standard without being too unbalancing. Here is a sample list:

Outcasts: “Inferno” Anti-shield energy torpedo. “Cheetah” Thruster
Corsairs: “Tizona del cid” and “Colada del cid” pulse guns
Hessians: Cannonball MKII, Firestalker MKII, Sidewinder MKII (Missles with improved tracking and slightly more damage)
Kusari: Anti-shield ammo torpedo (For Fighters). Kusari’s answer to the Inferno. Projectile is more resilient to damage then starkillers/sunslayers, hopefully that'll make this more popular then other ammo torpedos.
Bretonia: Advanced Train CD, Smart ECM decoy. Improved support system capabilities to help ships survive.
Liberty: Liberty Universal Armor Upgrade IX. Very expensive, multiplies armor by 2.7x, uses 35 cargo. So the LN can better equip their ships.
Rheinland: Antimatter mine dropper. More powerful then a nuke, and slower.
Gallia: Class 10 faction guns (You just don’t find codenames in Gallia, these will be similarly priced with similar status)
Council: Superior Brigandine LF/HF shield. Stronger then other fighter shields, but keep in mind this shield type is weak against pulse weapons.
BHG: Identity Scanner (Better cargo scan range then Adv. Cargo Scanner, buff Battleship license/scanner to match)

These are all the biggest factions in Sirius. We got all the houses, the three most powerful pirate factions, and the BHG.

And no, you still cannot mount equipment from opposing factions. That and the tech chart prevents any one ship from getting all the best equipment.

Thoughts?

nice BUT .. concil cant even mount class 10 guns .. and yeah there are codes in gallia.

excaliburs and one other is from gallia methinks.

and yeah i already see lolcast and lolsair ships mounting liberty <strike>C</strike>AU mk9. something else besides this perhaps?

It's fighter MK9, not capital Mk9.

Every piece of technology on here is fighter tech. Price range would be such that the LOLpirates will get a gunboat + capital armor instead. Same goes for LN capital ships.

Additionally. The GRN are the ones using the Class 10 guns, not the Council.

EDIT: You got any suggestions? Go for it, I ran outta ideas.

yeah i just noticed. my bad. still i feel it would be abused by fighter vessels around sirius resulting in more reports somehow.

edit:

actually, i'd give liberty a new torp. sort of like nova, but a bit faster with slightly better turning, to counter the capspam.

How about we give Liberty the mine dropper, and Rheinland the armor upgrade then?

Mine dropper probably won't get abused as much. You may be right about Liberty special tech being abused, but no reason to leave them out.

allthrough they are reasonable suggestions ( except the hessian missiles - missiles are always a problem to balance properly )

i do like a slightly better liberty armour and a BHG scanner ( but i m not sure if its technically possible to increase the active cargo scan range of the scanner beyond 4k )

i d support that though

another problem i see is .... who gets something? - hessians as the third largest pirate group appears to be the smallest faction in the list. - playerbased - it has less attention than some other groups though.

a few factions are larger than those as well

- junkers
- zoners
- nomads/wild ( well, they do have their own stuff anyway - sort of )
- liberty rogues ( their lore has changed from a rag tag group of pety criminals to a larger "organized" crime i believe )
- GMG
- CR ( they represent a minor house regarding to their lore )

i guess that is on the devs to decide. good suggestions though.

Lane Hackers are more likely to develop special tech then the Liberty Rogues. Rogues are a motley assortment of criminals, hackers are composed entirely of technical experts.

I didn't list those factions simply because I ran out of ideas.

- nomads/wild ( well, they do have their own stuff anyway - sort of )
emp uns for the omnoms would be good, since we dont have any. if nothing then at least for the bombers
- liberty rogues ( their lore has changed from a rag tag group of pety criminals to a larger "organized" crime i believe )
give rogues the enhanced nova torps to counter liberty capspam - since they dont have caps theirselves.
-junkers
enhanced scrap mining turrets that add something to the mining mod multiplyer?

If any of this goes through, you're going to get a lot of people whining, and rightfully so. Some of the factions you're mentioning already have pretty superior equipment - Kusari's ridiculously fast fighters, for instance, or Rheinland's well-matched pair of bombers.

When we get into this, I might come and ask something like this: "Well, yeah, these are powerful factions, but why am I gimped because of that? I want a more powerful XYZ for the XYZs!" I mean, think about it. Take the Hackers, for example. People talk about how lawfuls get ganked in Liberty, but having been on both sides of the law in Liberty quite a bit, I've found, personally, that unlawfuls get ganked much more often, and - more importantly - by much bigger ships. The Rogues have the Barghest, yeah, but they won't share, and the Broadsword is almost as easy a target as the Upholder. Why shouldn't we get our own SNAC? Maybe one that takes less energy to make up for the Broadsword's small plant, or one that does as much shield damage as hull damage.

Or think about it this way. The Phantoms have their own, slightly superior weapons, right? Sure, they get help from some huge alien empire, and really, out of RP, they get ganked a ton. But doesn't the same sort of thing apply to the Hackers? After all, all the Phantoms really get are a couple bits of leavings, while the Hackers are made up almost exclusively people who worked with technology for a living for years. And we get ganked too, quite a bit, and there are more of us to be affected by gankage. So shouldn't we get something special?

Now, I am not saying the Hackers deserve something cool and unusual in particular, I'm just using them as an example. The moment you add "special" weapons for multiple factions, everyone is going to want them. It's an extremely slippery slope. Even if everyone gets something, there's going to be constant bickering over the exact balance of all the "uniques", much like there is now about everything from bases to class 4 guns to battleships.

Not that this shouldn't be done, of course. Just something to keep in mind.
