Freelancer Smallarms Designs - kikatsu - 02-18-2010 ![]() Freelancer small arms concept work In my time I keep thinking about how to expand on the whole out of ship stuff. I originally planned on making a handgun for every house, but I wanted to post my best ones so far. Maybe more later, I do not know. I may even use these designs in my non Freelancer workI do not want to limit myself after all. Still, I have to say that these were totally designed with Freelancer in mind. The Libertonian Law Enforcment 122B is a rather common sidearm originally designed by Ageira Technologies for the LPI. In the past ten years the model found itself in public hands after a contract was signed between LPI and Ageira allowing public sales. The weapon was popular due to the variable power settings and high capacity heat sinks. The weapon is not known to overheat often, and a stun setting is available for taking suspects in without harming themmuch. Small second degree burns are possible even on the lowest setting. The Maltese Commonwealth has always been well known for their state of the art starship weapons. Their small arms are just as dangerous. The Wyvern Three is dramatically overpowered for its size, using a rifle grade power core. The gun can unleash a packet of charged particles powerful enough to met away armor plates and flash boil a targets flesh. The downside to this gruesome power is the overtaxed systems. The heat sinks can only discharge a shot every three seconds, and the battery core drains dramatically fast. Each weapon barely lasts more than twenty shots. The plus side is that any target is almost instantly killed, even with a glancing blow. The Corsair Empire is well known as one of the largest houses in Sirrius. Their starships are well known for their robust designs and efficient power plants. Commissioned by the Benitez Familia, hoping to find a new and ergonomic design, the micro Salamanca quickly became a staple sidearm for Corsairs across the Empire. This sidearm sports one of the most effective power cores in its class, being able to supply more shots downrange than any other pistol in service. This ability was taken advantage of in the initial design phase, and a fully automatic fire feature was added. Most wielders restrict themselves to burst fire, as the weapons only weakness is the heat sinks, which can only sustain the automatic fire for so long. Inspired by Freelancer, made with the Discovery mod in mind. Freelancer Smallarms Designs - kikatsu - 02-18-2010 okay well that is cool just keep in mind this is not flood...and you break the forums with that Freelancer Smallarms Designs - Talbott - 02-18-2010 Ergonomics look blocky and heavy, very awkward to carry. Do they have sights, or is it more of a sci-fi holo job? Freelancer Smallarms Designs - Kazinsal - 02-18-2010 ' Wrote:Ergonomics look blocky and heavy, very awkward to carry. Do they have sights, or is it more of a sci-fi holo job?Personally, I'd be choosing a reflex aimsight for the laser gun. Nice to be able to aim with the aperture the beam emits from. Nice work on those guns, kikatsu! Freelancer Smallarms Designs - Talbott - 02-18-2010 ' Wrote:Personally, I'd be choosing a reflex aimsight for the laser gun. Nice to be able to aim with the aperture the beam emits from. Do you mean a reflex sight or a laser sight? Because your words imply one thing, but the description implies another. Looking at these some more, they look more like carbines than pistols. The addition of a sling or folding stock would move all of them firmly into the carbine category. There's way too much gun forward of the pistol grip for them to be pistols, the two pirat ones even have spots for the off-hand, which makes me think of them as short carbines. Freelancer Smallarms Designs - Montezuma/Kukulcan - 02-18-2010 Very nice, though the Corsair projectile does look rather odd. Also, in respect to the classification of them, i would think of them more in terms of 17th and 18th century flintlock pistols, which often had rather long barrels, and proportionally much longer barrel-wise than these look to be. Also, knowing Corsairs, sights would not be an issue, they would just run in in their dozens with pistols in either hand and vaporize everything that moved. Freelancer Smallarms Designs - Kazinsal - 02-18-2010 Reflex sight. I meant aim using the _weapon_'s lens. Freelancer Smallarms Designs - kikatsu - 02-18-2010 Yeah I was trying to get a bigger looking, more bulky pistol, not unlike the older flintlock guns. And I did make note that here in the actual game http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7QwDh3mwoBk handguns are very big, much bigger than our guns in real life. The corsair projectile was pretty much just the actual neutron blast from the game...I may just not be very good at replicating the effect. But have someone fire a Salamanca across your bow and you get this green orb with a rather retro looking scifi raygun type trail. Freelancer Smallarms Designs - Tenacity - 02-18-2010 ' Wrote:Reflex sight. I meant aim using the _weapon_'s lens. Meh, if you're using a laser gun, you could simply set the weapon to a 'low power' mode when you're not shooting, which still emits a targeting laser beam. Inbetween shots, you end up with a tiny red dot on the target from the laser emitter itself, so your shot will land exactly where that dot is. |
