OK, here is a question. I know the rule for Traders is you must demand either cargo or money before you destroy them. What if a particular trader has shown on several occasions that they will not ever submit to these demands, must I still make said demands every time or does it get to a point where I can just KOS that trader?

Pirating Traders - Axe - 08-10-2007

Why would a true pirate bother with a trader, and wasting ammo and possible damage, if he sees no profit?

I'd say you'd have to ask.

Pirating Traders - uspatriotsf - 08-10-2007

Why, for punishments sake of course. They will pay or they will die. If they choose death, then at least there is some enjoyment there. Thats what I figured, the real reason I was asking is because RepEx (my faction), does not submit to piracy, and a certain faction has told us they will now KOS us. I would ask everytime with my pirate characters, but was trying to get a consensus if they could do that.

Pirating Traders - Axe - 08-10-2007

Ah, I see. As far as faction diplomacy goes, ID rules come first. They still have to ask transports and traders. My opinions matter not.

Well they could put you on KOS, Kill the escorts, demand cash, then blow up the trader. No Idea if they can out right attack transports and such.

Quote:Pirates and terrorists have a right to deal as much damage as they see fit before demanding money, but killing trader ship before demanding money is not allowed.
This was taken from the official rules post (rule #7.12). It doesn't get much clearer than that.

I think pirates should be able to put traders in KoS. However, due to server rules, they always have to ask money first.
A idea should be to ask 100 million from the trader that is in KoS. He obviously will not pay and will eventually be destroyed. He will not be able to report you to the admins, since you asked money from him.

But if you fire too much (more than only shields) before asking for money, the trader risk to be destroyed by NPCs.

Pirates right dont want to pursue the traders if they dont pay (at least some of them), mostly if they dont have an "easy" kill.

i say this cos i have one trader in a raven claw and i got trader ID (status problems and the char is only few days), and one pirate yesterday asked me for 1M (lol), and of course i said no, we were figthing for 2 mins and so (i still had some bots to rep), and when i run away, he was all the time asking me to fight.....my god, what a bunch of crap.

in the pursuit (a little one only) others killed him....lol.

#1 - Too bad if the NPCs kill you. Not my problem. Rules only state that the "Pirate" cannot finish you off. So if you get killed by the NPCs in the area because you wanted to run, that's your problem.

#2 - You're flying a Raven Claw as a trading vessel. That's a fighter and makes you fair game for attack. Read the rules for the Trader ID. If you're in a fighter conducting trading, you're not gonna get rich and you're fair game for attack without demands for cash.

#3 - Get into character.

i dont have problems about being attacked by pirates, but i dont like too much to be called....coward and so on cos i ran away if im slowly loosing the battle.

pirates must earn respect god sake, if you say no they kill you, and if the trader runs away, pirates must pursuit, and kill the trader.

well and more than trading i was trying to get some weapons...
