Admin Notice: Miners and the 4 hour rule - Cannon - 03-08-2010

The following rule has been updated. The changes are highlighted in bold.

5.7 A player who was killed in a PvP fight must not enter the system where the fight took place with any of the characters on his/her account(s) until four hours have passed from the time of his/her destruction.

If the player respawns in the same system, he/she must leave the system within 10 minutes of his destruction without attacking anyone, except in self-defense. Other players are not allowed to attack one who is leaving.

Transports/Freighters/Liners which have been killed in a PvP fight may return to the system in which they were destroyed but only for purposes of moving through the system or for trade within that system. They may only act in a purely defensive manner and may not resume acts of piracy.

Q_Q

no more pie rattig
no more mining
no more pie selling from my escort once killed

making that mining change was evil.... really it is...

do you know how much pain it is to mine that stuff, just to get blow to pieces... only bonus was the "4 hour rule loophole" for transports...

Instead of "haha kill me and I just launch, tractor the loot and start over" it now becomes "Uh oh, don't wanna die... I should probably pay the pirate or hire some muscle".

Looks like a good move to me.

Damn. Okay, thanks for the notice Cannon.:)

It's a good move to get rid of some bad behaviour... Although it does kinda effect the good players, this is a good move methinks.

Just for clarification:

If someone hires a transport solely for the purpose of selling ore, that transport is not considered trading? Even if they are in a completely different system from the actual mining operation?

The transport is considered trading if it is just moving the ore. It only becomes mining if it shoots rocks.

Common sense.

The transport isn't mining, he is in effect trading.

Hmm...what if I will have full cargo every time and say that I'm just trading? Would you call me an arse? I would...

...

I don't understand why doesn't that apply on traders as well...

If you are in a mining ship with mining turrets or lasers it would be pretty easy to call your BS. However, if you are in a transport that has no mining turrets or lasers I'd have to let you re enter the system.

Common sense. It is easy to spot a miner and a trader. Miners have things to give them mining bonuses. Namely, mining lasers. Traders do not.

It's not what your are, but what you're doing. If you're in the system trading, then you're at that moment in time using your transport as a tradeship. If you're in a system shooting rocks, you're at that moment using it as a mining ship. So a mining ship with full mining lasers moving ore to a sellpoint in another system would be in the act of trading, and therefore protected by the exemption.
