Dorky
Mentioning the real name of this individual would be entirely irrelevant. He is known as Dorky and that is the only way he likes to be called. But it was not always like that of course.
As a son of two parents who were Liberty Navy flight officers, Dorky had a very pleasant childhood on planet Houston, Texas. In his early years his father insisted that his wife gets a desk-job so she could have less stressful and less dangerous position. You never know what might happen, father always said. He was just a regular kid but was always somewhat clumsy.
He always use to enjoy his parents retelling interesting stories about missions they have been on and certainly had an effect on him. As growing up, and as his developed, he became more and more proud of what his parents were. Naturally, when the moment came, he wanted to take the similar direction but he was denied the flight academy due to minor health conditions.
Thus the years passed and he went to become a aerospace engineer thinking that, if he cannot be a pilot, he can at least help construct ships that military pilots will fly. Things were not that bad, he was a very happy man having such an interesting and creative job. There he met his girl who only after one year became his wife Shirley. Soon after his baby boy came onto this world. They named him Jeffrey. His parents, now retired in Cortez, were so proud of him.
Everything was going just fine until...
His mother got sick and Dorky was pretty busy with the another project so he sent his wife to Cortez few days earlier knowing that he will join them later. If he only did not do that. Their liner got attacked by a group of pirates and all the passengers and crew got killed. What is even worse, Liberty Police patrol was near but they could not respond because they have received a distress call about Rheinland invasion of Liberty space. So they had to choose, whether to go fight rheinlanders until Liberty Navy arrives or to fight pirates.
There are no words to describe how he felt. The pain. The loss. He blamed Liberty Police for his family death. It was understandable. His parents tried to convince him that it was not Liberty Police's fault and that things like that happen. He did not want to listen to that. He started hating them as well thinking that they are not on his side so he denounce them. He quit his job. He quit his life. He bought a small transport and started just flying around waiting for someone to put him out of his misery.
Few years passed. We are not talking about the same person any more. This one is broken and full of hate yet unable to do anything to anyone. On one particular day he saw a group of terrorists/pirates led by some Joker-guy. They were fighting the Liberty Navy in New York, near California gate. Criminal group was loosing the fight being heavily outnumbered. Navy brought a cruiser as well. So Dorky decided to join in so his just hit his thrusters and went into a swarm of fighting ships.
The Joker's gunboat was taking heavy fire and had its shields down and then, by a blind luck, Dorky's ships find itself in front of mortar intended for the Joker. Mortar hit Dorky's shield instead of Joker's hull. Before that moment, Dorky did not know on whose side he was. Maybe he just went into that battle wanting to die. Watching how the Joker's gang fought against officers with pure somewhat comical anger, he started serving nanos and batteries to all his thugs. He saved them enough to keep on fighting the fight which forced the Navy to retreat.
The Joker order retreat as well. Dorky tagged along and it led him to Coronado, Barrier Gate station. In front of docking ring the Joker approached him:
"It seems your clumsiness saved my ass back there. For that I'm thankful. But look at you! Your ship is really silly. You remind me of a dork. Thus I shall call you Dorky. Now keep quiet and just dock here. I'll give you some credits and buy yourself something decent."
And the rest is ironical history. Dorky became a fighter pilot what he always dreamed of. Naturally he lost his mind along the way, after loosing his loving family but that was just perfect for a group of demented criminals who were his only family now.
