The Liberty Special Activities Service - Lance_Uppercut - 03-31-2010 My goal is to pick up the slack the =LSF= perhaps leaves off in the Discovery community. Don't get me wrong -- they're great players and a great faction, but due to several circumstances, can rarely be found executing large-scale operations or working "abroad." This is the preliminary post to a potential faction creation request, just to get some community feedback and perhaps notes on where / how things are possible or not with my ideas. If the LSF is mostly-secretive (at least known about / heard of by most), the LSAS doesn't exist. In short, the LSAS would be a truly "black" division of the LSF, with all the allegiances and politics of such. Now, the run down ----- LSAS will be:
LSAS conducting operations in Dresden and the Omegas under a secret agreement with the RHA to counter the RM, but secretly using the intel to spy on the SCRA. Perhaps even "infiltrating" the Coalition through forged visa requests, something like that falling under "espionage." LSAS operating discretely out of FP11 to get a leg-up on the Order when it comes to Nomad intelligence in Iota. More of a "combat espionage." LSAS seeking, tracking, and if agreed in RP, taking out high-profile ships in other factions. A RM vice admiral, for example. "Assassinations." LSAS bringing valuables {in-game; civilian weapons and intel} to the aid of the Council in Gallia, falling under the "clandestine supply" wing. (I know the Gallic diplomacy hasn't started... yada, it's just for example.) LSAS sniffing around Vespucci and ambushing [HF] / ]NTF[. Perhaps even drumming up local populations (IMG?) to assist. --- I realize some of these ideas cross a lot of delicate RP already in place here, and I certainly don't want to step on anyone's toes while playing. Give me a shout out if this stuff (this KIND of stuff) isn't doable for reasons we can't work out. It's basically the whole premise. A glaring problem is that it breaks most AOI rules -- but perhaps that could be given exception. It is Discovery, after all -- we ought to be able to be creative with the rules as long as it's done right. Hopefully it comes across as a good balance between for-RP missions and PvP message-sending. Certainly, not any better/above/more important than =LSF=, but just a different role. =LSF= leaders, it'd be great to have your input first. Questions?! I'd like to bang this around the room a few times before moving forward! The Liberty Special Activities Service - Wolfs Ghost - 03-31-2010 I wouldn't fly around with your Rank in the name. Would be a bit suspicious. The Liberty Special Activities Service - Lance_Uppercut - 03-31-2010 ' Wrote:I wouldn't fly around with your Rank in the name. Would be a bit suspicious. Yeah, thought about that. We want to be secretive... but not necessarily "unfairly" so to other factions/players. After all, if nobody notices anything, we won't get to interact and RP/fight with others. What's the point, then?? Perhaps something besides rank to give a tip-off? Naming theme? The Liberty Special Activities Service - Taneru - 03-31-2010 Quote: LSAS sniffing around Vespucci Sorry, what? How exactly do you plan on .. you know.. not getting raped by the Ravager as soon as you enter? Guard systems might be a bit of a stretch. That said, this is hardly a bad idea in any way. I'd enjoy seeing more LSF acting not-so-openly. The Liberty Special Activities Service - Hawkwings - 03-31-2010 What makes you think the =LSF= doesn't already do this? This is one of two groups that has surfaced in the past two weeks, that seem to say that the =LSF= are "Doing it wrong" Doesn't mean that's what I think, but I mean, two groups, with purpose and story behind them, have popped up, generally supporting that message so...obviously there's a fair few out there that think it to be true... That said, I think this LSAS group, could be interesting, to say the least. Apart from that, why not join the =LSF= and then transfer to Covert Ops division? The Liberty Special Activities Service - RmJ - 03-31-2010 *cough* yeah we have our own operations ...none of which is lacking anything...so yeah... What? The Liberty Special Activities Service - rayne - 03-31-2010 Well we just did a raid on a rheinland cruiser and gunboat, killed the gunboat, the cruiser docked and within 10 minutes there were 3 [RM] and another cruiser on us. Thats one of the reasons why its difficult to do things outside of liberty, people metagame the chat list and see us in their systems then they call out their forces and then we get owned. Also we do stuff outside of liberty, just because you dont see it all the time doesnt mean we arent doing it. And whats with all the =LSF= bashing recently? |
