well, firstly im not sure if this is the place where this thread should be, because it concerns disco, and yet its just a discussion.
i was flying in my outcast character yesterday, and i landed at a certain base in omicron beta (name begins with a R i think), and i went to the bar tab, and you know there are two options, one for missions and one for what i like to call 'gossip', i went on the gossip one and what i saw actually confused me...
apparently the Benitez family in one of the stories is an outcast family...
either i am reading wrong, or i was hallucinating...

Names are variables, which we get and are defined for our life. You know, Outcasts and Corsairs are both from Spain/Italy, and the Benitez family could have been one and the same in the Hispania Sleeper Ship (One part of them settles at Crete while the others settle at Malta. Logical, isn't it?).
BTW, the base is called Ruiz.;)

RP wise, the Benitez are not actually descendants of any ancient family called Benitez.
The Benitez ancestors who arrived in Sirius on the Sleeper Ship hispania where actually the surviving members of the Alvarez family. To summarise our clan history, during the decision of some of the Hispania crew to settle on Crete, the Alvarez family was split in-two. The patriarch of the Alvarez family at the time chose to remain on the ship, and presumably settled on Malta some time after.
During the period of isolation, in Crete's history, resentment of the Hispania crew that remained on the ship caused the Alvarez to be persecuted, and as a result, and due to their own contempt for their brothers that had abandoned them, the Alvarez of Crete changed their name to "Benitez". The Alvarez are rumored to be a powerful family on Malta.
Out of RP, I have played this game since release, as have my friends, and I am still not aware of every rumour or news report, particularly enough to put them into context. I had no knowledge of a Benitez being mentioned in Outcast rumours, but it doesn't come as any surprise.
