Is it just me, or does fl hook keep a ship floating in space for the 20 seconds? If it does, why not increase that time to 60 or 120 seconds so that way an f1 still results in getting shot down?

Hook F1 Timer - Ion - 09-10-2007

yes... but those who wish to swap chars when not on a base will have to wait those 60/120 seconds....

Hook F1 Timer - Dopamino - 09-10-2007

most of the time 20 seconds is enough time...
thats why he have it at 20 seconds.
it used to be 10.

I think 20 seconds is perfectly fine. If its set to 60/120, people can be in an entirely different system, come in, and kill you before the timer runs out.

Not worth it, 20 seconds is fine.

Personally I would move it to thirty seconds now, as twenty doesn't seem to discourage enough people from
actually using the F1 key in space still. Thirty seconds could kill you big time, and its a long wait.
Changing chars when not docked, means you would have to think a little more about when and where you are
thinking of doing it.
Rule breakers, or convenience for those not bothering to dock ?

If it was only my decision, I would make it 60 but not seconds, but minutes.
It would finally force people to land even when they have to leave quickly, and it would be also very difficult to use certain bugs to teleport far from jumpholes which I find very out of roleplaying.

20 seconds is usually plenty of time to kill the enemy, and if not, its plenty of time to take a screenshot of the fight, then you take an SS of the log off of the char (or the disappearing if they go to char screen) and send that to admins.

Hook F1 Timer - Zelot - 09-11-2007

I remember a whilke ago seeing a post from one of the amins, that said f1ing even when not in PVP combat should be avoided. You are supposed to dock before changing chars or logging out, and people who dont do so at their own risk. If someone f1s thinking they are not in combat, but another player could be sneaking up on them, if they get there in the 20 second hook, they can legitimatly clam you f4ed out of combat, and theyd be right, It's not smart and if you do it whether in combat or not, you face the concequenses, whether its another player comming in and killing you when you are on the hook, or sanction if someone reports you. Just land. It ussualy doesnt take more than a minute or two to find a base and land.

Hey thanks for moving it. I dunno which admin did, but thanks just the same.
