Lawful Rheinland Gunship? - Tomtomrawr - 04-08-2010
Although the number of gunboats in Rheinland is ever-increasing, the fighter and bomber numbers still reign supreme in this area. The Rheinland Gunboat is more of a ship designed to engage other gunboats and capital ships, instead of fighters and bombers. What we really need are small, agile gunships that can, with support from escorts, destroy fighter and bomber squadrons.
I was hoping to host a competition for designing this ship, and offering a 100 million credit reward (I know it's not much, but I'm poor). But before I did that, I wanted to gather opinions on the concept of lawful Rheinland authorities having access to a new gunship.
This could also work into the idea of each house having a special ship. Liberty already has the Assault Battlecruiser; which dealt with the constant capital ship raids on New York. Rheinland could have this gunship, and Bretonia, Kusari and Gallia could also be given a new ship each to suit their needs (I'm not very up-to-date with new ships being designed, so they may have been designed something new already).

i see no need for this.
I am more afraid of a RM gb then im of a bottlenose.... 600k power, agile (it is agile for its armour rating), and a crazy shape that is hard to hit...
couple that with missiles that are god darn overkill and a forward cannon... it is ONE of the perfect gunboats in game... able to kill caps and fighters with ease

This is supposed to be like the difference between the Orca and the Bottlenose. I sure has hell wouldn't be comfortable taking an Orca into two Barghests, but I've taken down two Barghests in a Bottlenose thanks to its small size and agility.

actually, Orca can do 2 barghests just fine.
just keep shield up, turn, pulse, forward cannon + razor (one down). Then dodge a little, reapeat step 1
