Civilian Passanger transport/ferry - Strobel - 04-09-2010

Due to the server down I've read the part on missing passanger vessels again.
We've got only 4 passanger vessels so far and I think it's time to get some more.

While I was thinking on it I thought it's time for me to try out some 3D-modelling and after many hours of swearing and stuff I came out with this first try.

By now it's only an idea of how a civilian passanger transport could look like but I wanna know what you guys think.
Maybe I'll alter some parts later or drop my whole modelling career, I dunno. :-D

Put on more details... in proportion to ship size. Don't make ridiculous tiny props when they can be represented by textures, and give the ship more shape than that. Considering this is an industrial vessel, repetition of certain patterns (for instance, supporting pillars) could make a better rendition of what you'd like to have.

I'm not sure if what I just spoke out made any sense at all... english isn't quite my mothertongue.

Looks good to me, a very functional design.

Suggestion: ease up those sharp lines, chamfer them somehow.

More detail really but I like where it's going.

I'll try to add a lot more details, for now it's only a sketch to try out my skills with 3D modelling so far.
By now I'm not that satisfied with the engines and bridge section.

@notequinoxe: I sure will, first of all I wanted to have a basic model to work with.

@Korolia: Don't worry, I understand what you wanna say to me and I'm neither native speaker. ;-)

I would certainly like there to be more passenger transports, but I'd imagine something liner-esque to be more suitable

If you want to learn how to model dump sketch up now while you're a head. Get Gmax. I'm pretty sure its free, and learning it will help you if you try to get into maya or 3ds max. As far as real modeling even milkshape 3d is better than sketchup. Sketchup doesn't conform to any industry standards.

@DartStriker: Thanks mate, I'll try it. I only used sketchup to get a first 3D model of what I've had in mind 'cause I really suck on designing the classic way (pen & paper).
