Yes, best is to log out if you know that it will take longer, so things like this cant happen (Still dont F1 to escape a RP/PvP situation :rtfm: )

Uhhh.. I could be mistaken but,
When you get killed your camera stays in space and you see a menu with Respawn, reselect your character and go to main menu.
So how can you be kicked for base ideling?

AFK = A Free Kill.
If it really matters a lot to you not to die, you should make some adjustments on your side, really.
When you die, your location changes to the base you last docked with, although the camera is still in space. That's why for example admins can't beam you when you're dead.

Don't AFK in space. It takes up server slots which could house a player who is actually playing.

If you are AFK, you can and will get killed. If you have to go AFK, please dock with a base. If that is not possible you may get hit by floating debries, asteroids or will be salvaged by Junkers in the meanwhile.
