Has anyone found a decent tool for making 16 or 32-bit animations? and if so, do they generate a format which can be linked to a forum signature?

256 colour GIF's are OK... but somewhat 1990's

EDIT: I found a way to have it so each page refresh brings up a different sig image, but as far as real-time animations go, there's no joy yet.

I don't know such format. Unless small pic-like videos can be linked here, what I doubt. If it exists I'd wish to know that.

That was the closet thing to a solution I could do.

EDIT: The hell with the colors, I realy like what you did in your sig.

Cheers, a few minutes with Animation Shop 3 makes all the difference, and 256 ain't all bad... reminds me of a simpler time when 'Privateer' was the pinnacle of space-sim!

There is something called APNG (Animated PNG). However, Internet Explorer and Chrome don't support it.

And an eight frame file is gigantic. Well... Comparatively speaking. A normal PNG will prolly be about about 60 KB. An eight frame APNG will be 1.4 megs.

PNGs are bigger in size if you use interlaced. But then they load faster.
