Lord Asano, aka Hagi Asano was a prominent entrepreneur in selling optoelectronic devices to Liberty. A crafty businessman Asano gained much respect among the Kusari people due to his extravagant campaigns to slow pirating, although all actions were along his and his partners' trade routes. Lord Asano, being one of the few civilians to convince the Kusari Navy to sell him an aging Destroyer even gained the favor of the Emperor, hence his title of Lord and royal ownership of Hakagi valley on New Tokyo.
Though not even a Lord's luck is long running. In recent times Asano's business began to falter. Sales dropped off sharply every week with no clear reason. Panicked, Asano raced to Manhattan to discuss trade agreements. Although the Liberty business people greeted him with big smiles and accolades they ultimately told him that trade cannot continue due to heightened terrorist and pirate activity.
Furious, Lord Asano struck hard at the pirates in Liberty. He destroyed many squads of pirates in his destroyer while, back at home, his company was bleeding profusely. Hakagi fell into disrepair without his extravagant spending and Asano's anti-pirate patrols within Kusari soon dissolved when the credits stopped flowing in to the pilots. The Emperor stripped Asano of his title and his land for his negligence, however, Asano keeps his title despite what the Emperor decreed.
With a modest sum of credits left to his name, Lord Asano sold his Destroyer to a Zoner and began to seek out the source of his misfortune in a civilian ship. Making a small peace with Liberty Rogues by funding a new squadron of fighter, Lord Asano was able to learn that the Lane Hackers would probably have the most advantage out of pirating his convoys. After learning this Asano raced to Mactan base to assasinate whoever was in charge there. Upon docking he was stunned at the technological marvels that his pirated goods help create. He stopped at the bar in hopes of getting some information. There he overheard a couple Hackers who had just intercepted a Liberty comms. They sounded frantic as they realized that Lord Asano's shipments would not be coming through anymore and that Liberty had struck a deal with RepEx and a new optoelectronic company in Shikoku. They complained how this new company's equipment was of very cheap quality and was useless to them.
This news set Lord Asano off like a nuclear bomb. He ran up to one of the Hackers and pinned him against the bar. Strangling the pale lanky fellow Lord Asano shouted at him, "You little ***k, you better be joking." Suddenly, Lord Asano was knocked out cold. A large guard-like figure holding what looked to be some sort of surgical extractor stood over him and the transmission with Mind Spy was lost.
