Fearless, Corvo, and Resheph - Tenacity - 05-01-2010

So I'm considering getting a cruiser class vessel for The Order in 4.86. Back in 4.84, I flew the fearless and loved it, but much has changed since then and I havent flown any of these on the server since 4.85 released. I've tested them in Open Singleplayer, sure, but that's no accurate representation of how they'll perform against other players.

I'd like some opinions and reviews of these ships from players that have flown them in the current version of the mod. Please include your weapon loadout, and reviews of your performance against each of the capital ship classes as well as against bombers/fighters.

My view on the Zoner "Fearless" Destroyer

It has a "Fire Punch" of a REAL destroyer to tell you the truth, and in my honest opinion. Had one like 2 months ago - but got bored since it was hard for me to find Role Play with it.

Went on battle with it couple time's. Losses and Victorious - fairly rated. However, I could have done better. Against Battlecruisers, Heavy Cruisers and of course Destroyers were easy targets for the "Fearless" since it is actually pretty small for its power. When fighting Caps - it is best to stay atleast 2.5k maximum; 1.5 minimum - had experiences. Strafing the "Fearless" is like strafing a medium size gunship - which is rather excellent. Then again - "guppy" look which will make it harder for the opponent to make a hit. Also, thrusting is also good.

Loadout -
1 - Light Mortar
2 - Pulse/Battlerazor
6 - Zoner/Order Turrets

This was the best loadout I have found and that was recommended from someone. It works if you get used to them.

Fearless, Corvo, and Resheph - JIVA - 05-01-2010

corvo:

its a decent cruiser of rather large size ( like most zoner ships ) - its larger than the fearless and can fire 8 turrets forward and backwards. - its broadsides are a weak spot as well as its top and bottom. like most zoner ships it also suffers greatly from a lack of energy to actually fight back well.

optimal role in pvp: long range support - or kiting tactic ( running and firing backwards at a chasing enemy ) - close range, its rather hopeless

fearless:

as described - even if it looks larger and bulkier than the corvo - it isn t. its compact and could be described as a generic / default cruiser - no real weaknesses, no real strengthes.

optimal role in pvp: anything, cause its average.

resheph:

thats a hit and run destroyer. - it hasn t got too much firepower and its also quite large. its meant to be a weaker counterpart to the BHG destroyer, which should wipe the floor with it. ( as a little balance cause the osiris can wipe the floor with the mako ) - the 4 CMs are but a fun feature - they don t serve much purpose ( well - you can mount 4 different CMs and increase your CM capability to 280 ammo if you care but thats about it )

off of the three - the fearless is still the "strongest" in pvp. - the corvo is well below average and the resheph isn t really a thug in space either.

optimal role in pvp: it can perform many tasks ( long range as well as short range close support ) but the emphasis is on "support" - when accompanied by something heavier, it can tip the outcome of the battle - if not - its rather weak. - as far as i know ... i made it so that it cannot even fire all its turrets into any direction. - but its agile and might be able to go 1 vs. 1 against a nomad gunboat - but then.. thats a destroyer killing a gunboat - no surprise there.

RP wise - they re very different thgough as you very well know.

- fearless: edgeworld / borderworld heavy transport / supply ship.
- corvo: low crew requirement long range / deep space ship
- resheph: long range recon ship of spyglass capabilities ( but cause its the order, its not battleship sized, but destroyer sized ) - avoid detection if possible

Well just going by the ship's stats, the Resheph has the same number of turrets as the Thresher, but more power core, higher power regen, higher armor, and more bats/bots.

I do wonder why, as a ship made for combat duty, the Fearless has 400,000 less power than similar cruisers, yet has more guns taking up that power. I can see why the Corvo's power core is so weak, but the fearless should probably be buffed up to the same power as the Resheph.

Supply ship? According to the infocard it's used as a defensive warship for protecting freeports and escorting zoner convoys, nothing about it really says supply ship or transport to me.

Tena, from my own experience flying a resh

Do NOT use that thing for combat (but then again i'm horribly out of practice)

It's more suited for being an RP vessel

no idea if the iD was changed - but when it was modelled first - it was meant to be a supply ship ( like the juggernaut btw. ) - thats why the fearless is a rather dumpy ship.

the resheph has limited turret arcs ( or at least i gave it limited ones so it cannot fire as many turrets as the thresher - if that has changed it was changed without my knowledge )

Well the new model you've made for 4.86 looks even less like a transport =P

Fearless, Corvo, and Resheph - JIVA - 05-01-2010

well - if it doesn t say its a supply ship anymore - there s no reason to look like one eh?

anyway - thats hardly subject of your original question. - out of those 3, the fearless is the most combat worthy still - mind you, you don t see much combat flying a fearless, cause you ll happen to be a zoner then. - with that in mind... who cares for pvp worthyness in a zoner capital ship anyway.

ever thought of getting a generic pirate cruiser instead?

The cruiser is for my order character, I'm considering replacing my carrier in 4.86 depending on whether or not the weapon changes mjolnir is doing make the geb worth flying anymore.

I flew the fearless throughout 4.84, as I said in the original post, and I do have a bit of nostalgia with that ship =P Love the new model, too, just concerned about it's performance, since 4.85/4.86 have/are introducing a lot of weapon changes from what 4.84 had.

Do you have a size comparison between the current fearless model and the new one you've made?

Fearless, Corvo, and Resheph - JIVA - 05-01-2010

in terms of pvp - its no change. - the hitbox ( pray that it ll work one day ) - is maybe 5% longer than the current one - but fits better - but other than that ... its no change.

all you ll have to worry about is how the zoner factions look upon the order flying one of their larger warships though.
