An Idea - Montezuma/Kukulcan - 05-18-2010 Recently I have been getting quite a few reports of indy Corsair ships (mainly caps) being somewhere they shouldnt be, and I've been trying to talk to them before going to the Corsair Court or letting someone report them. One thing that has come across very strongly (especially with the whole 'sair cap ZoI laws) is that new players dont know they are doing anything wrong, as no one has given them a rundown of the Corsair Laws, and they have not visited the forum yet to look for them. Now, I would imagine that the Outcasts, as well as Liberty probably would be experiencing the same issues, namely that new players buy their first combat ship (often a cap), but dont know the RP laws of each house. So, what I am proposing is a solution to the lack of awareness from new players with regards to the RP laws of the Houses. My idea is that, in the same way we have the 'Discovery RP 24/7 Rules' commodity, we add a 'House Laws' commodity, specific for each house that has a written set of laws (Most of them are listed here), and to have these commodities for sale on each base of the apropriate house for 100 credits. So for example, on every Corsair base, you would have a commodity entitled "Laws of the Corsair Empire", which would list all the laws given in the above link. And the same for the Outcasts, Rheinland, Bretonia, Liberty, Kusari and Gallia. Some of the law documents may need to be shortened to fit into the infocard of a commodity, but seeing as the server rules have been made to fit into such an infocard, I dont see why the House Laws, which are much shorter, couldnt be. I am certain that should this, or something similar, be implamented, it would really help with a lot of confusion surrounding House Laws, and I know for certain that it would make the job of controlling the Corsar indy caps a great deal easier, and as an extension, I would assume the same would most likely be true for the Outcasts and Liberty especially, who also recieve the largest ammounts of new players. An Idea - Akura - 05-18-2010 Good idea man, very good idea. The content of their infocards can be FLHooked too I believe, means if anything changes Disco doesn't need updating. An Idea - Carlos_Benitez - 05-18-2010 Great idea. I just hope, as suggested, changes to these commodities are flhook-able, rather than requiring an update, which would be a pain in the ass. Also, we've gotta bear in mind that our laws may not be the same as laws for factions on another server. If we can get this to work, they should definately be standard issue on any /restart character, and when buying a faction's ship, the appropreate laws commodity should come as standard. An Idea - Syrus - 05-18-2010 Would be great. I would really like to see that, but - I don't think those guys "lulwutting around Liberty in their corsair caps" won't read those rules. Anyway, it's still a good idea. All laws should be available that way, so they will be quick to find, if you need them. (Don't ask how long I looked for the Rheinland-side Embargo Laws...Maybe I was just blind...who knows.) I'm definitely for that. An Idea - Montezuma/Kukulcan - 05-18-2010 Well the thing is, from talking to a lot of those 'lolwutters', most of them dont do it because they dont care for Laws or RP, most of them do it because they dont know any better. And for those who do it just out of disregard for RP, at least we will have a document readily availible in-game to tell them to adhere to lest they be punished. Also, i agree that the ability to change the contents would be vital, not just incase the laws are changed, but for other servers. And being issued on all /restart chars as well would be very good. An Idea - Birdtalon - 05-18-2010 Great idea. An Idea - Valinor - 05-18-2010 I really like this idea. An Idea - Arashi - 05-18-2010 Yes, I like this idea a lot, it'd be very helpful. Maybe even have faction ships come WITH a copy of their faction/house rules on purchase, as a default. An Idea - tansytansey - 05-18-2010 Make it appear in the hold of your CSV when you /restart. I'm not sure how much it would help, though. I don't ever remember reading those commodities when I first came here, don't know how much other new players do either. An Idea - Prysin - 05-18-2010 Make it a must have item to BUY the caps like ID is now, you need to buy the book before it lets you buy the ship. simple as that. Its easy to do, and maybe it will even make people WHO IS ON THE FORUMS READ THOSE RULES. And you would be suprised how many players who don't know the relevant rules in a house even if their on the forums. |
