Criminal Dossier: Escher - Thexare - 06-05-2010 Liberty Security Force Criminal Database Subject: Escher Height: ~1.70m Hair Color: Black Eye Color: Green Age: 29 Background Escher's criminal career started as a juvenile offender who would be of little note had he not so regularly eluded capture. He was only captured once, for his very first offense; a minor case of teenage vandalism. Unfortunately, he seems to have interpreted this as a challenge; his crimes quickly became more and more severe, and the LPI were unable to capture him despite their best efforts. The LSF intervened after a Guardian went missing, but though we found the Guardian, its thief was nowhere to be seen. There was only a handwritten note, which read "Better luck next time. I got what I came for." Beneath that was an image of a leaf tessellation within a penrose triangle. A system-wide manhunt went into effect immediately, and we referred to the man as Escher for the first time there. It is believed that he took on the name himself for no other reason than the fact that he liked it. At some point after this, Escher became an active Lane Hacker, working on the gunship Dystopia, which stalked the Barrier for at least a year and a half before finally disappearing. More recently, he has been seen working with John Petrucci of the Vagrant Raiders, but each time has either evaded or killed our agents. In some cases, he has done both; escaping capture and, weeks later, murdering the agent for trying to catch him. Given his crimes' shift from destructive to those with some kind of gain, it is believed that he is, above all else, motivated by personal greed rather than some sort of ideology. Each of his murders was in what he perceived as self-defense; the agents were tasked with capturing him, and he wanted to ensure their failure. It is worth noting that he often makes no effort to hide his involvement in his crimes, instead choosing to rely purely on his skill in escaping over any attempt at stealth. However, three of his murders have shown considerable premeditation and he wasn't seen by anyone in the course of carrying out those murders. Due to his obvious skill, however, there is a chance that many unsolved crimes can be traced back to him. Addendum: After the above-mentioned theft of a Guardian, his parents vanished as well, and were last seen in the northern Independent Worlds. It is believed that they were Lane Hackers that had been inactive.
