On the station of Roppongi... - Shagohad - 06-22-2010 The docking bay of Roppongi station was busy as usual. Docking supplies sent here, there, and everywhere. Ships of many colors being loaded with cargo and offloaded with many rare and exquisite commodities; a beautiful scene for an Interspace base. The only thing that set it off were a few vessels that had been sitting for a short amount of time. They were of standard civilian make: An Eagle, a Starblazer, and two Hawks. The other eight vessels could not be found. The only issue was their loitering. In a rather plain and ordinary rented room on the living deck, five individuals collaborated amongst themselves, ascertaining what to do next. They spoke in whispers with a language none in Sirius would understand and looked about warily; a habit from where they used to live. A testament to the lives they lived. The deadline was due; the only members assembled; and the documents ready to be delivered. As one, they pulled forth a tube from each of their jackets, unscrewing the caps and withdrawing five similar rolls of paper. They inspected the documents, selecting the neatest and tidiest of the five. The other four were pitched into the center, one of the men withdrawing a lighter. He flicked the cap, the small, blue flame dancing above the emitter, licking hungrily all around. Quickly he touched it to the documents, setting them to a miniature blaze. In no time at all, the documents had been reduced to ash then set back on fire to make sure the job was done. The remaining ashes were set in a box to be placed in an incinerator when one was located. The last document was then escorted out of the room by the entire party, to be delivered to an Otis. They had no clue who that was, but they had to deliver it. There they sat in the lobby of his office, awaiting their time to speak with him. On the station of Roppongi... - Zelot - 06-22-2010 A small man walked out into the IND main lobby on Roppongi station, with a curt bow from the waist, he quietly addressed the men waiting. "Konnichiwa Gentlemen" the small man growled in a low gravely rasp. "Jethro-san is a few levels down in the Renzu offices, he asked me to escort you down to the Renzu conference room." With that, the small man abruptly turned and walked quickly to the lift, the men quickly trotting to keep up. Twelve minutes, seven levels and three sections later, the men arrived at the Renzu offices and made their way to the conference room. Inside the large ornate room was a very, very long conference table. At the end of the table was a middle aged Libertonian. The man quickly stood up to greet the visitors. "Welcome gentlemen, thank you Kyojin." Before the visitors could turn around, the small man was out of sight. The Libertonian continued, "Please gentlemen, sit down. Let me welcome you to Renzu, the connection between Renzu and IND is not important, sufficed to say Renzu is a Kusari company, therefore our offices tend to get bugged less often. That little difference makes our offices here much more suitable to....descrete meetings. Now with that out of the way, I am Otis Jethro, what can I do for you today?" On the station of Roppongi... - Shagohad - 06-22-2010 The men were in awe as they were escorted about. They scanned the area nervously through the whole trip, looking for signs of cameras, recording devices, and hidden weapon emplacements. All-in-all, this was very alien to them. The conference was even more frightening. As this Otis fellow spoke to them, they seemed to huddle together like cold penguins, afraid that he might shout and yell. Maybe even shoot them. With the suggestion of sitting, they all hesitantly sat as far as they could from Otis; that fear of death and anger still lingering. As soon as Otis finished speaking, the largest of the group, a middle-aged man who was lean and otherwise of average build and features, cleared his throat. "Monsieur Otis Jethro...I am Blais Descartes," His voice was hoarse, tired. The sunken look in his eyes matched his exhaustion and nervousness. He continued, "We trust you are the monsieur who spoke to Directeur Dupont, non? We have to make absolutely sure...." The rest of his party shifted uneasily, all eyes on Otis. On the station of Roppongi... - Zelot - 06-22-2010 "Ah, the lady director, hai?" Jethro responded lazily, even though he was clearly Libertonian to anyone looking, his years in Kusari were clear to almost anyone who encountered him. "Yes, the Director and I had quite the conversation recently, I have been expecting some kind of message from her. I assume you carry this message?" Jethro stood and walked over to a wet bar against the wall. Pulling a dusty bottle from the top shelf, he poured it into a small porcelain sake cup. "Gentlemen can I get you a drink? Something to eat? I am sure you have had quite the trip to get here. I, myself have made several trips up north, and I know it is a stomach turning trip." On the station of Roppongi... - Shagohad - 06-22-2010 Their mouths opened slightly in shock. This was a scam. It had to be. He was being too nice. Yes they all found themselves responding as one. "O-oui!" They looked at him hungrily, their hands absentmindedly forming to the contours of a wine goblet. After their travels, a luxury such as this could not be ignored. On the station of Roppongi... - Zelot - 06-23-2010 Otis walked over to the conference table, pushing a button on the panel next to his chair. "Koyijn, please have the staff bring in some refreshments for our guests. Arigato" Almost before Jethro had finished speaking two large wooden doors at the far end of the room opened and several Kusari men and women came in and quickly set up a long table, covered it with linens, and set up a buffet that would make most government officials jealous. "Arigato folks," Jethro said as the staff left the room, the small man Jethro refereed to as Koyjin appeared as if from the air itself, and quickly poured the men glasses of wine and water then left the room again. 'Please gentlemen, help yourself, here we have the best delicacies Sirius has to offer." Jethro picked up a plate from the pile at the end of the table and placed several items of food onto his plate before returning to the long conference table. "Please gentlemen, I did not eat breakfast this morning, and I am quite hungry, but it is impolite to eat when ones guests are not, so, if you would, just to make me more comfortable, help yourself to the buffet, and then we can get on to business." On the station of Roppongi... - Shagohad - 06-23-2010 They nearly jumped from their seats, trying to maintain their courteous nature by giving their childish behavior a finesse that could not really be described. They collected foods of all colors, shapes, and sizes, spooning and forking them onto plates, collecting napkins and utensils, then rushed back to their seats, careful not to ruin the carpets should they drop the delicacies. As they dipped bread in their wine, made outlandish combinations with different foods, and furiously wiped at their faces, they were constantly saying the words "Bien" and "Merci" in frightening quantities. It was as if they forgot why they were even here. On the station of Roppongi... - Zelot - 06-23-2010 As Jethro watched the men eat, it was clear what he had seen in Gallia was not an aberration. It was a completely different reality up there, one that, it became clear to Jethro, would take much getting used to... but also provided a unique business opportunity, something Jethro rarely passed on. As the men continued to eat, Jethro picked at the sushi he had taken, quietly watching his guests, sizing them up. The comm panel on the desk began to chirp, and Jethro pushed a button. A voiced quickly spoke in Kusari, and Jethro responded in kind. "Excuse me for a few moments gentlemen, I have something that needs to be taken care of immediately, please help yourself to more wine and food, I shall not be long." With that Jethro stood and walked out of the room. On the station of Roppongi... - Shagohad - 06-23-2010 Uh oh. This the part where they fill the room with poison gas! They looked about, their chewing and drinking slowing to a crawl. They watched him with fright, it seemed to all become clear. "Wh-when you got back, monsieur Otis, w-we have something to give you. Ma-madame Directeur made u-us. You'll be back? Oui?" The look in their eyes showed fear as they all turned on him. On the station of Roppongi... - Zelot - 06-23-2010 "Only a moment, I have to approve a purchase order." Jethro walked out the door, leaving the obviously nervous guests behind him. After several minutes, Jethro returned and took his seat once again. "Now, where were we?" |
