Hello,

First of all I want to thank you for taking your time to read this piece of text.
This is the first time that I dare to write something like this on the forums.
Not that I am a newbe but writing your own idea here could ruined your imago.
But ok I give it a try.

I do not know yet which is better but something like this raised up in my mind.
In normal life we get so now and then post in our postbox brought by the postman.
Why isnt there any postman (organisation or ID-card) in the game.
I think an ID-card is better because then you may fly only in a certain area. Of course there have to be some restrictions because there are areas for different houses. So every house has its own postman ID-card.
But let me give you an example:

A postman from Liberty is flying from planet Manhattan, with post* for Bretonia, to the border station in California or to one of the two police/border station in the Manchester system.
If he brings it to Californian border station he wont earn as much money as when he brought it to Manchester. He takes a greater risk is he fly further.
(*post means here high valuable paper work, checks, diplomatic papers etc., etc.)
Not further because his Bretonian collegue will pick it up and he transport it to London planet in the London system.
At his way home he will take post with him which have to go to planet Manhattan.

Another reason that he may only use the border/police stations is that, these stations, are in my opinion not very often used in the game. If you are a trader you wont get much profit when you sell there. Now they will become in use.

This postman ID-card is not for players who want to powertrade but maybe for those who just begin a new char or just want to have a simple char with a small (post)ship. Let say till level 30 maybe 40.
I repeat, a small ship means a ship with low level weapons and who my not be attacked by criminals with big GB with heavy fire power on them, or whatever.
If the postman will be attacked by criminals, then it could be only done by criminals with low weapon ships.

Of course we could develop the postsystem a little bit.
Every housesystem has its own planet. From those planets the postman can bring the post to the house main planet (example: from Houston to Manhattan or visa versa).
And transfer it further.

This is all what I have to say.
Maybe it is childish but if you never try you never know.
The people who had read this text may tell their fair opinion and maybe they can give a good hint to develop this idea.

The reason we no longer have postmen who deliver letters to and from places, is because we have a much more efficient system that uses transmissions to deliver messages, which is represented by the Communications Channel section of the forums.

>.> There's also IC email, closed frequency transmissions and carrier space pigeon.

Good RP idea, but doesn't need a faction/ID/IFF. Just get an independent trader ID, a Freelancer IFF, and RP shipping mail.

Or Insterspace ID / IFF.

Although Elven probably already refuted this point...
You can't electronically send parcels.

my guns send my messages.

Yup they do it just fine.

I think the problem with this idea lies in the cargo.

You'll need LOTS of new sorts of cargo since we cant have commodities that can change prices both ways (IE: buy low, sell high).

Then again, why would a transport designated to fly one of those routes not take mail as well?
