Ile-de-France Shipping - TheOrangeButterfly - 07-03-2010

Ile-de-France Shipping Company
[Image: idf.png]
History

Founding

A young, but promising entrepreneur by the name of Francois Pomeroy decided that the great nation of Gallia needed a company that was absolutely loyal to the crown in shipping matters. The founding of Ile-de-France shipping was in 585(A.S.), after Francois received a charter from the King to open up a new company on Planet New Paris. His adventure was seemingly a success. Shortly before his death, he vowed that his family name would carry the Presidency of the Ile-de-France shipping coming henceforth. His fledgeling son, Marcus Pomeroy soon took up the reigns of the company after his death.

Second Gallic War

Fast-forwarding to the Second Gallic War, the seditionists raged against the Crown as they tore Planet Marne from the Crown's control in a bloody uphill battle eventually pushing all royalists off the planet in 801 (A.S). Joseph Pomeroy, just a young boy at the time happened to be in one of the cities when the workers first started riots in the streets in 794 A.S. He was quickly sent into hiding, unable to reach a spacefaring vessel to escape the planet. His chance came, however, in 798 A.S when the Council broke through the blockade of the planet and caught the Gallic Naval Forces completely offguard. Pomeroy's ship escaped back to Ile-de-France on a small transport vessel, witnessing first-hand the battle that would change the face of Gallia forever. Pomeroy vows revenge.

Current Times

Like other large Gallic companies, it's under close control of the central government; however, the Crown prefers not to interfere in IDF operations unless it is absolutely necessary for the state's interests, providing the company a large degree of independence. IDF Shipping works closely with EFL, distributing the new type of efficient alcane-based fuel for spaceships, and playing an important role in building up Gallia's own trade lane system with the help of technologies stolen by Junkers from Bretonia and Liberty. (cite: Wiki)

Joseph Pomeroy, loyal servant of the crown. He is stuck in the Ile-de-France system, cut off from the fighting on the Borderworlds. His Senior Vice President, Gregoire Pierpont has taken control of the IDF in the borderworlds due to chain of command. Pierpont is as staunch a Crown supporter as Pomeroy, but he has yet to witness the atrocities that they have committed. Ile-de-France Shipping's loyalty will never be questioned.

Rank Structure

President
There is only one president, but he is currently in the Ile-de-France system and is cut off from the Gallic Borderworlds. His right-hand man handles the issues of the Borderworlds until Gallia is united and the jumpgates unsealed once again.
Senior Vice President
The Senior Vice President is Gregoire Pierpont, and he is currently cut off from the Gallic homeworlds. He presides over all shipping in the Gallic borderworld systems and once it is united back to the homeworlds he will transfer the central command operations back to the President, Joseph Pomeroy.
Vice President
A highly trusted and personal advisor to the President, or in the current case, the Senior VP. He deals with all shipping management, escort management, and other fees and regulations that must be maintained in the company.
Superintendant
Once a person surpasses the Supervisor rank, he is expected to not only have unwaivering loyalty to the Crown, but he is to also be competent in ~ALL~ leadership elements. This includes the organization of shipping, escorts, and other fees. He is expected to have the ability to act autonomously if requested by the Senior VP. This means that he is able to go and maintain operations that would otherwise not be per "usual."
Supervisor
A supervisor organizes patrols, trade convoys, and exploratory missions if required. A supervisor does not have to present to begin a large convoy, but it is highly advised that one be present.
Foreman
This pilot is the beginning tier of the command chain, having earned the trust of the company and of the commanding Superintendant he must be recommended for this position.
Pilots and Partners
These pilots have earned the trust of the President, and have been incorporated into the company's super-structure of advancement. These are separate into two tiers. Pilots are escorts, and Partners own stock in the company and are allowed the use of the Vache train. (It is encouraged to have one of each)
Recruit Pilot
Having just been hired into the Ile-de-France shipping company, this fresh pilot is taught the ways of the company. This area is when the pilots loyalty to the crown is also tested, any pilot found to be seditious in thought or action will be immediately apprehended and handed over to the Gallic Royal Police forces for interrogation. They have minimal responsibilities, and as such only have access to fighters and freighters.

Ships Currently Available for all-around Use:
Moonbeam - UX-256 Gallic Civilian Light Fighter

This sleek racer, consisting of little more than hyper conducting alloys molded around overpowered engines, is the love of Gallic space operas and racing circuits alike. Capable of extraordinary maneuvers in the hands of a trained pilot, the deadly dances performed amidst asteroid fields are only as deadly as the cannons she employs when pressed into escort duty.
Usage: Available to all pilots

Sunbeam - UY -258 Gallic Civilian Heavy Fighter
Comfortable, stylish, deadly. Pushing Gallic economic interests through the darker corners of her homeland, the Sunbeam was crafted as an added deterrent against brigand bomber strikes. More than capable of shredding incoming vessels while their charges make good with their escape, this vessel is not to be judged by the surface level gleam of her hull.
Usage: Available to all pilots

Aurochs - MCU-1 Gallic Freighter
If one wants to move large cargo fast, "Aurochs" is the right ship for the job. Mostly used by Gallic corporations for shipments between planets and distant bases, this ship has found a place amongst many civilian pilots too.
Usage: Available to all pilots

Vache - ME-UH Gallic Train
As the territories of Gallia, even when aided by the usurped gate technologies of her sister colonies, continued to sprawl the need to move vast stores of precious resources from crop world to industrial, from smeltery to shipyard, grew ever more pressing. The simple core vessel, transporting a series of modular pods easily configured for the task at hand, quickly became the core staple of insterstellar house commerce.
Usage: Must own stock in company. (Partner and above ranks)

Ships available only under contract (Once sorted, limited)
[color=#000099]Caracal - XJ-1 Gallic Light Fighter
Built upon an aging, but popular, police and military design, modern refinements in flexible materials and gravity assist maneuverability systems have been incorporated in this borderline experimental fighter,
designed to literally fly circles around the aged craft of its Brigand and Council opponents
Usage: Personal contract with GRN/GRP. Approval of the Senior Vice President.
CONTRACT REACHED: Ship available for usage by all Escort pilots ranked Pilot or above.

Serval - XJ-2 Gallic Heavy Fighter
Built to the Royal Navy's standard of balancing power and speed to meet any and all threats on a level plain the JX-2, unveiled in 817 A.S., represents the cutting edge of Gallic snub technology.
Usage: Personal contract with GRN/GRP. Approval of the Senior Vice President.
CONTRACT REACHED: Ship available for usage by all Escort pilots ranked Pilot or above.

Cougar - BXJ-5 Gallic Royal Navy Bomber
Built upon the back of the lessons learned during the first truly large scale battles in which Gallic forces were committed, the Couger is vastly improved in every conceivable way than the largely theoretical forbear launched against usurped Royal Navy capital ships during the war.
Usage: Personal contract with GRN. Approval of the Senior Vice President.
CONTRACT REACHED: 3 Bombers available for use. (Shareds)

Goals

Transportation: Bringing vital supplies to the Gallic Royal Navy, Gallic Royal Police, and other friendly companies to maintain good relationship with the Crown.

Escorts/Fighters/Bombers: To deal with the new surge of piracy tactics used by our enemies. With having lost contact with the home world of Planet New Paris we are crippled in certain areas, as we have lost significant contact with the larger portion of the trade fleet. We have a large portion of fighters, and we will aid the Crown, GRN, and GRP in battle if need be.

Loyalty to the Crown: We are unswerving in our dedication to the Royals, their principles, and their Authority.

Expansion:To keep Sirians out of Gallic space, we will not tolerate any Sirian presence in our beloved homeland. We will expand as the empire itself widens, and we will be merciless to any non-Gallic person be it "Friend" or foe.

Ile-de-France Shipping - jammi - 07-03-2010

I have got to say, I really like this. Over the last few days I've been online on my RdG, I've seen several of your convoys shuttling back and forth through Gallia.

It just struck me, there have been swarms of GRN/GRP, and hordes of Council of various colour and creed - but I haven't seen a single corporation player up until now. Zero. Zilch. None. I'm just thankful you lot have arrived to fill the void. Plus this is the Gallic version of Bowex, so you get a +1 awesome point.

Although the history is a little sparse, your ingame interactions more than make up for it. Imaginative insults, and pure RP gold today, with Orange himself. So long as your ingame standards hold true, you could write your faction status with your forehead and you'd still have my support.

Good job so far. Keep it up.

Ile-de-France Shipping - ACER_SPACER - 07-03-2010

Brilliant! I cannot wait to see how awesome our faction will become after the 4.86 update. It is already brilliant as it is. Nice backstory. Hail the crown!

Ile-de-France Shipping - Wolfspirit - 07-03-2010

Can we see some RP based trade route example? Gallia is not the place what I visit often....

Ile-de-France Shipping - Backo - 07-03-2010

A low danger route should be the:
Oil from Briancon Station (EFL), Dauphine to Alesia Station (GMS), Burgundy.
A route with more danger and risk in which we're forced to use escorts to protect ourselves from posible attacks is:
Bio-Neural Processors from Gap Station (GRP), Dauphine to Metz Station (GRP), Lorraine.

Sadly due to the fact Gallia is made to be unlawful trading zone and not lawful one we're forced to cross hostile territories like using the jumphole to Lorraine or to contact the Junker base at Languedoc... But on thouse runs we're really careful and avoid the main trafic.

And we do -NOT- leave Gallia. We're loyal to the crown.

Ile-de-France Shipping - Altaris - 07-03-2010

Dont worry, after 4.86, with new systems, there will be more of them that meets the eye. I hope this'll work. Gallia is beautiful place, especially with factions flying in it. I do hope to see ya around.

Question though...
Why are both President and senior vice president characters of one player...?

Ile-de-France Shipping - TheOrangeButterfly - 07-03-2010

Because of the roleplay we want to do with it. The President is cut off in Ile-de-France and is more of a figurehead that will be used by the "upper tier." As of right now he's not really used except in RP on forums, and that will only happen in 4.86 when Ile-de-France System and Planet New Paris is opened back up. Make sense? I could have just as easily put "Upper tier command" beside his name and that would have sufficed just the same. But, yes, as of right now we're not using him. He does exist, however.

Pierpont is the main man at the moment, in charge of the Gallic Borderworlds and when it gets re-united with the main Gallic systems he'll be the "# 2 bro" handling most of the business. It's a formality more than anything else right now. He's the "In space person." Pomeroy won't be seen in space, rarely if ever.

Ile-de-France Shipping - Altaris - 07-03-2010

Existence of such character makes sense indeed. But having him in roster, which should show active members of |IDF IN GAME isnt at all. I'd remove him from roster and mention him in general story or so.

Ile-de-France Shipping - Wolfs Ghost - 07-03-2010

I'll have to agree with Altaris on this. Add him into the General story and keep him there as a reference. You can still roleplay him as being cut off in the Core Worlds. But I do understand what you're doing by listing him as there.

Anyways, that's my 0.02$ the document looks great so far, and I had a great time roleplaying with you.

Ile-de-France Shipping - sovereign - 07-03-2010

I have two words to say about this. They are as follows:

HELLZ YEAH

I've an IDF Vache that I'd love to use more often. If you'd take me, I'd love to be a shipping grunt.

As for the background, there is still communication between the Core Worlds and the Border Worlds. It's monitored, but there is some communication, especially for important stuff like the leaders of the companies, the royal family, and the military. As well, ships can be sent through into the Border Worlds, even if they can't go back (it's how we maintain numbers, and how the fleet amassing in Dauphine is growing). If you've any questions, I've spent way more time in Gallia than can possibly be healthy.

See you ingame, glad to have you around.
