Some bug or cheat - CareTaker - 10-24-2007
Today i was fighting outcast destroyer in Alpha and i just couldn't destroy him.
His shields went down like usual(it took some time since he was using engine kill all the time).
When i started firing at his hull i just couldn't destroy him, he had 2.5 armour that with that ship makes less than 500k armour. When i hit him with my 2 battle razors(i saw them both hit since he was 400m from me) that do about 62k of damage togeather it took less than 5% of his hull(for examle: it took this "l" from this "llllllllllllllllllll")
Further more, when i hit him with 8 of my turrets that do 1700/850 damage it took him twice less hull then when he hit my hull with 8 of his turrets that do 1340/670, and i have 3.5 armour that with my ship makes about 1700k armour.
Finally he destroyed me and he didnt even have scratched hull.
Was this some bug, cheat or what the h**l was it?.
(I don't want to be pesky but if any admin could find some time to inspect this i would be most grateful.)

Im sorry but you really don't like loosing do you? everytime you've been killed you've cried cheat and its lame.

I never cry when i die, and why would i, its just a game.
and only times i get killed is when 3-5 people attack me or something like that.
And addition, yesterday i destroyed outcast battleship with 3.0 armour(1650k) and still had 80% of hull left.

That means nothing, it depends who's flying the ship not the ship your flying my friend, you need to remember that.
Also if you don't like getting attacked by 3 people fly something smaller, just seems to me you've bought the biggest ship in the game and you still get killed when you think you shouldn't so you make posts like this and cry cheat ingame like the otherday.

lol, i didnt cry about anything. i was angry because SUPREME told me that i have neutrality and must pay 5 mil fine for shoting on AW member. but suddenly some AW member came in outcast dreadnought and killed me with little help from 3 corsair gunboats.
btw u seem to cant read english-If its normal for you when ship with 500k hull gets hit by 60k weapon loses less than 5% of hull when it should lose more then 12% i dont know what is not normal to you...

Its an equipment that u mount on your ship and it multiplies your armour
And if u mean that he had armour upgrade, then yes, he had 2.5 on outcast destroyer that has 195k hull so it makes a bit less then 500k

it can be a lag problem or a hitbox issue aswell. not every shot that shows a "hit" graphicly is really a hit - i think. in addition to that - it sometimes does not feel as if you can determine a fight by pure mathematics.
i don t know how freelancer actually determines damage - but it seems as if a hit does not allways inflict the full damage - but sometimes less. giving a fight more randomness.
i had a fight against a kusari destroyer once - hit it multiple times - but the shield just never got down - and i saw the impacts. when the fight was over, it turned out that most of the shots plainly missed. it did not appear like that - but there you are - ping problem.
it doesn t need to be a cheat. i think very few people really cheat. but maybe i m just to optimistic about cheaters and believe too much in the good of the people.

IIRC the Outcast Destroyer has a dodgy hitbox.... or was it the gunboat.... could be wrong.
And what Jinx says is true. Many times I've launched torps against destroyers or w/e, and watched them just explode some way from the ships hull doing no damage. (no they weren't knocked out by gunfire)
So I don't know... maybe some play testing on PvP?

I agree with both of you, but it should not be connection problem for me since 2 days agom my connection was improoved exactly x2, and it was fast before and i rarely had problem with lag.
Maybe we could tell that to Igiss so he can try to prevent it in 4.84.
