La Tene - Secession from the Molly Republic - Linkus - 07-12-2010

The Mollys

When people think of that phrase, they no doubt think of the bloodshed and terror that Dublin is now famous for. The blasts of weapon fire scorching through the dark vacuum of space before ripping through the hull of yet another mining vessel.

For a people who want their own freedom and nation, the Mollys are only known for one thing, warfare and murder.
How can a nation be formed on such a basis?
How can the Molly's exist as a people without warfare when it has been at their very core for generatioons?

They cannot.

The Molly Republic is a false hope. It would establish a grand Republic, only to have it inhabited by a people grossly under-developed as a society who, without an enemy outside, would no doubt turn on one another.

The Mollys are, for the gross majority, a people without a culture but with a gun in their hands.

Those in Dublin and Londonderry no doubt might disagree but they are the same people who are so concerned about 'owning' bits of ore floating around in rocks that they send thousands to their deaths needlessly while a simple diplomatic deal would be far more favourable, without wasting lives and said ore on new weapons of war.

Those of us further outwards from the 'Molly core' share different ideals.
We have been at the forefront of the ill-advised aggression against Kusari for years, our lives being put on the line for a system we have never seen nor been able to call home.
I ask you, what is fair in such a thing?
Our lives are forfeit to defend a system that could well be Rheinland system for all we care for it.
We find ourselves asking the question, "Why?".
Our Molly kin in Dublin would of course have reasons to defend themselves but why us, out in Newcastle and further afield?

We came to the conclusion that there is no good answer to that question. We are giving up our lives for ideals that aren't our own, for a system that is not our own and for a leadership that cares little for us.

The leadership itself is a farce.
If it could be called leadership, it would still be called catatonic.
The great system of Consul's has simply failed. They are either too busy or too lazy to bother leading the Republic and have left it to fester in it's inadequacies.
The only hope for the Republic perhaps changing route and focusing more on it's people than on rocks came in the form of Colin Breen.
While no one knows for sure, he may well be dead. He is certainly missing.

We are a Republic without leaders, without culture and without any drive for advancement.

The Mollys as a people could be Great. They could delve into their cultural past and come forth with treasures unlike any other.
We dream of a Molly nation great in culture, it's power garnered through trade and not through bloodshed. We want a nation for the people, not a nation for the rocks that float in a backwater system.
Yet, there is no room for such a thing in the current Molly Republic.

Instead we must send countless brave souls to their deaths for the broken ideals of those that dwell in that backwater system.
Every day families lose loved ones. Whether they be husbands, wives, sons, daughters, sisters or brothers - They all perish for ideals that are not our own.
There is no fairness there, there is no justice.

We say no more.

We, as a people, refuse to send yet more lives to their deaths for no reason we can fathom.
We, as a people, refuse to waste resources on constructing weapons of war to further wars we disagree with.
We, as a people, refuse to be led around by completely inept and uncaring leaders who have nothing in common with their people.

We, as a people, refuse to be part of the Molly Republic.

The Mollys aboard the station's Belfast and Mull, and their assorted forces, henceforth secede from the Molly Republic and declare their undeniable independence as La Tene.

La Tene

As with the rest of the Republic, we shall be known as Mollys but we will not be hunting down Kusari Navy Forces or assaulting Corsair patrols.
Similarly, we will not be attacking Bretonia, the armistice applying to all Mollys and being something we agree with.

We are not the same as the rest of the Republic though and the name we have chosen reflects this. Originally an ancient site on Terra, it was where our cultural ancesters first began to develop their culture from it's more base roots.

It's a name befitting a group that, while coming from a certain culture, wishes to develop further and encompass new ideas.

We already have contacted other nations regarding certain deals but we hope to further our trade relations with those that are nearby, and further afield.

This transmission is long enough already so we will send another with our intentions and supposed relations listed.

For now, remember this.

The Molly Republic no longer has control over Newcastle, nor the forces within. While the rest of the Republic is welcome to share in our development and we bare them no hostilities, we will not be swayed from our ideals, not anymore.

As a final note to everyone who reads this:
We wish for peaceful trade, not bloodshed. Look upon us with a favourable eye and your favour shall be returned tenfold. Material trading is key for us but it is not the only way of trade we pursue. Intellectual thought, philosophy and new ways of thought are all forms of trade that we wish to delve into. Please remember one simple thing:
All are welcome with La Tene.
