Ok so I got this idea that I have been mulling over and I'd like your opinions...

Wednsday Night Warzone
A weekly event where two or more fighters are scheduled to fight one another. These would be fair and moderated fights that were hyped up during the week. Betting would take place with the winner of the fight receiving a portion, the host a humble set up fee, a cameraman or two would recieve their fees as well. The videos would be aired on youtube for all to see. This is just a rough idea that I'd hammer out and make it so it ran smoothly, but I wanted to see what all of you thought first.

I like the idea, but i dont think its gonna work. i for one dont have to wait long on a fight. We are under constant attack, and we also retaliate those attacks. But for the less "fortunated" it could make out some good battles. Although i would set it up on the PvP server, it basicly has nothing to do with the RP server other then thats where most fighters are

I agree with Mr_3ppozz. I don't think the RP server is the place for an event like the one you're describing.
On the other hand you could work your idea into something more dense RPwise than simple arranged PvP fights. How about you try and organize a illegal dueling syndicate. Like a illegal street fight organization. Pilots would want to participate, mostly the unlawful and the unaligned ones for respect, to prove themselves, for money, I don't know. You could get money from people willing to go see the fight. You could try and bribe the local authorities so you can organize your event in the core systems without hindrance from them. That way you'd more likely get spectators, more money, more visibility for the fighter, more interest in general. I don't know, if you really think something like that up, work out a RP for it... I mean, there's all sorts of possibilities for it. You could fix the fights, organize bets. That sort of stuff. That would be something colorful.
I'm voting no to the original idea, since this is not a PvP server, but if you come with something better up, I'd reconsider.
Fair moderated fights? No.
Unfair, illegal, fixed, placed in the middle of the house systems fights, bribes, corruption and the sort. Maybe yes.
(Sorry for not detailing or explaining it better, but I'm packing for the weekend).
Not to mention it's really hard to figure out when is friday night around here, so many timezones.

This kind of thing has been brought up before as a gladiatorial/arena sort of tournament. I like the idea and it is perfectly within RP for a fight club like this to exist. If someone presented this and managed it as well as the CCC bank or RepEx is managed, I could see it working.
BUT, could the server code handle 30 ships in one system watching the duel? would it be stable?

This would be an awesome thing, to reduce lag, the fighting ships and the cameramen would probably go to a nearby system.
It would be another way to make money too. Great idea!

Its a good idea. I would enjoy seeing fights that people could maybe bet on or other things such as that. A good way for some entertainment as well.

Sounds good, but i agree those events should be placed on the PvP server.

I had thought of this before, but feared that everyone would call it PvP whoring. If this goes off, RepEx would like to have rights to the Sports Book and will run the gambling portion of this.

I disagree, It should be on the RP server because:
1. Thats where most of the ships are
2. Money on the pvp server doesn't mean that much
3. This can be easily RP'ed and is a good rp way of making money (so not everyone needs a trader)
