Made myself a ship - Turkish - 07-16-2010 I was fiddling around one night after having been out clubbing (I was a little fuzzy) when I came up with this. The basic principle was "What if someone tried to make their own Jinkusu?". So with that you might see some areas that look Zonerish, but other areas wont for sure. It's still incomplete as well, I'm toying with it between words. Scale to a Jinkusu seems questionable as well. Cruiser sized? Not for submission at this time.
Made myself a ship - RockCrystal - 07-16-2010 Maybe it's just the lack of detail, but this looks much more like a VHF than the Jug. I'd really like to see this as a Zoner exclusive VHF actually. Just stick a cockpit on there and you're good to go! Made myself a ship - Stoat - 07-16-2010 I've got just one thing to say [color=#FFFFFF]Where's the darn sloop? Made myself a ship - Etaphreven - 07-16-2010 That is awesome. Then again, I do have your Bayonet as well.:P Made myself a ship - Jinx - 07-16-2010 the ship itself reminds me more on the IMG line - the straight edges, the bridge that is attached in the rear rather than the front. i d also miss quite some mass about it - a reason for that might be the wings. no battleship on disco has wings. - the jinkusu has wider parts - but they are far from being wings. all in all, the model is quite nice. its well proportioned, balances the details in a neat way - but lacks exciting parts. and thats maybe the greatest critizism about it - i think it looks kind of boring, cause it looks predictable. ( not like that one doesn t apply to other ships, too - but anyway ) the rear of the ship appears to be unfinished. except for splitting the ship into two parts - it shows little zoner influence. zoner ships are mostly build around a spine that runs through the whole ship front to back, forward bridge or cockpit, center attached engines protected by some sort of armour plates, a downwards bent look ( from the front ) and sideways storage room. proportions of zoner ships are meant to follow "golden cut" rules sort of - so the center of the ship is either slightly in the front of the ship ( conference, fearless ) or rearwards ( jinkusu, persephone ) - which is also reflected from a sideview. BUT as a custom IMG design, it fits in very well. edit: look at the sig.... the persehone combines what zoner design is meant to be. - a central spine, running all along the ship - rearwards reactor and engines, armour protection and a more or less roundish shape - stubby extrusions that are more heatsinks than wings though. Made myself a ship - Turkish - 07-16-2010 Hmm, thanks Jinx. I might have to bug you for more notes about Zoner designs at some point. Keep talking people, I'm taking notes.:) Made myself a ship - Jinx - 07-16-2010 i can write you a rough idea of zoner design here - and if you have further question you can still ask ( maybe in skype ) the idea is to have a mainframe that runs from the front to the rear - a solid frame on which larger modules are attached to. from the largest to the smallest zoner capship: - Persephone has its heatsinks running along the large front module ( the little boxes ) - ending in the cross section - where they interlink with the turbine parts - to end up at the engines, which are never attached to the very rear, but somewhat closer to the cross section. - the Jinkusu follows the same idea. the new model also features the heatsinks along the main-spine covered by the collapsable foil, ending at the cross section where the biodomes are attached to - ending in the engines - the Fearless is actually a very skinny ship - with only the thin spine on which the bridge is attached to and the four engines in the rear ( again rather close to the midsection ) - the corvo is an oddity and shall not be discussed here..... - the conference features the heatsink below the bridge/cockpit module - ending in the reactor drums and having its single engine attached to the drums directly. all zoner ships have somewhat wide cargo modules: - Perserphone as you can see has a rather wide front section which shows multiple "boxes" that are meant to be cargospace or crews quarter or whatever - its room for the crew or stuff. - the mid section ( stubby wings ) are meant to house the engine and reactor - which is easy to see, cause there is a glowing ball, the rear is just those four shells protecting the engines - Jinkusu features the same design elements - a larger front section, but instead of featuring the reactor where the Persephone has its reactor, it has the enviromental stuff and biodomes attached there. to make up for it, it has a massive fuselage which the persephone does not have - making the ship MUCH more massive. - the rear section is similar again - featuring shells to protect the engine - the fearless features four thick cargo modules that define its shape - left and right of the bridge and in the ear around the engines. in contrast to the big capital ships - the rearwards modules are not only armour plates but meant to be cargospace, - thats why they are much thicker and appear to be much more part of the whole ship. - the conference has those large sideways cargomodules - they are just that... cargo modules. the engine itself is rather small ( only the drum and the 12 glowing intake lights ) all zoner ships feature smoother shapes than most other human sirian crafts - which is meant to show that they are more sophisticated in terms of design ( meaning - less military and more expensive to build ). they also all have rather small engines compared to their mass ( especially if you compare them with the liberty dreadnought which is 30% engine ) the ships are not meant to look intimidating by their design itself but only by their size. - bit like most large animals which don t need shrieking colours, horns or other stuff - while smaller animals often need bright red or yellow paintings, ovesized teeth, horns etc. thats basicly the concept idea of zoner ships. here is a schematic underlaying every zoner ship blue is engines / non-crew quarters yellow is the powercore red is the mainframe and brown is the crews space/cargo space Made myself a ship - Luis - 07-16-2010 My god.... Jinx, i have to say this is very great notes you posted. I am putting this in Note Pad:P Made myself a ship - Turkish - 07-17-2010 Seriously Jinx, thanks, that's very helpful. Made myself a ship - Marcus Lindberg - 07-17-2010 Haven't read everyones comments, but IMO it looks kinda like a zoner gunboat...perhaps a specialized class of a zoner gunboat or frigate? |
