i finaly get freelancer to connect to the server on vista SP2 but when i try to make a new character it keeps saying name taken even for random jibberish like this fdusigdfisagfuas
so what do i do?

To fix this:
Deactivate the mod by restoring backups and then reactivate the mod. When reactivating it don't change any of the "Server" options - in particular this "Server: Select starting location for new server characters" - leave this as the default (actually I think it is safe to change every other option except this one).
If this doesn't work - reinstall FL and repeat.

thanks works now just so you know freelancer works with vista service pack 2!
