Loading characters crashes the game - enenra - 07-18-2010
Hey there.
Title describes my problem quite accurately. On this account I had one character I used to play. Just an hour or so before I found the stuff on the resolution change and improving the graphics ingame. (Tutorials in parent Forum).
So I tried those and enabled various stuff in my ATI Catalyst Control Center and also enabled widescreen by using "-dx".
Then I wanted to create a new character, did so, but when I tried to load it, Freelancer minimises and eventually doesn't respond any more, has to be cancelled. I don't think that any of my changes could have caused that but I wanted to make sure so I undid my changes, tried it again and got the same problem again.
Then I tried to load my old character and it worked fine for a few seconds. After launching an a few more seconds in space, it crashed.
Then I reapplied the changes and tried to load my old character, worked fine.
Then I created another new character and tried to load it, crash.
Any ideas? :(
EDIT: Also, I don't seem to be able to completely undo the widescreen thing. Although I removed the "-dx" in the shortcut the game is still widescreen and does also have quite large text sizes compared to before.

I had a similar problem once.
Try re-installing disco, It sounds weird (seeing as the other character was fine), though it worked for me...
