This is my first time running my own server with ioncross etc... i was fighting some NPCs (Daumann and Kruger in Dresden tradelanes) and once in a while the guy i was targeting would just disappear. Is this a known issue?

happens to me pretty often if i'm fighting npc gunboats. they'll just disappear, right before I kill them. VERY frustrating.

Yeah that happens alot with multiplayer. Especially with Nomads. Not just Beta 3, but even with unmodded. Very annoying sometimes.
I think when the NPC gets a certain distance from his patrol path, whilst battling you, he will either break off and return or he disappears. "Server enforced death -- you both loze!"

Thats probably the problem. Usually when an NPC disappears for me, it's after I've been trying to lead it into a minefield, etc.

I don't think I ever strayed far from the gate I'd disrupted... but I'll keep my eye on it. If it's a known issue, whatevah... i didn't want to polute the official bug thread if so.

If you have a squad of enemy ships. They all disappear as soon as the squad leader is out of 3 kilometers distance to you. Try it with a Nomad task force of 1 BS, 2 GB and 4 fighters. At a distance of 3 kilometers + the Nomad BS will disappear along with the GB's and the fighters, even if you are in combat with the fighters.
If you keep the squad leader as main target they will disappear when the leader is out of 10 kilometers distance.
