India, a developing nation, the largest democracy in the world, celebrates it's Independence today.

Edit#2: On an even more serious note, concerning other posts in this thread, freedom is a state of mind, so whether or not it is an illusion is irrelevant, so long as people percieve themselves to be free and independant then they are as free as they believe. Afterall, all countries are dependant on eachother, whether for good or for bad, there really isnt any such thing as total 'freedom', as every nation is also subject to every other nation, and to humanity as a whole.
