The Ranseur is smaller, has a better power plant, has more guns and more armour. The only bad thing about it compared to the Sarissa is that it isn't as maneuverable.
Yesterday, a friend of mine described the Sarissa as "the most useless ship on the server". While of course that was a exaggeration, it's pretty close...
