Escorting the [Convoy] - Pig_Pen - 09-07-2010 Name: Capt. Ryan Dukes
Security Code: ********* *** Connecting *** *** Opening File *** Official Logbook of Escort Gleaves, Bretonia Gunboat Location: Planet Leeds, Bretonia Status: NO ENTRY And another day ends, another day of hard escort service for the [Convoy]. I'm feeling really old today... *sighs* ... Now, where shall i begin? We formed at Leeds as usual, and too late as usual. We had to wait for some merchants to form up, then we started. As usual, the Gleaves had the lead, followed by three Shires, then Ingham and Buckley as backup, so quite a nice formation...The Shires were loaded to the max. We do our best to get those refugees from the Taus out of Leeds, especially since Leeds is under siege by the Kusaris... We passed the first 2 systems without any contact and entered Omega 3 - planned was a short stop at the Freeport for some supplies and refueling. Some Hunter there informed us 'bout Pirate activity in the system. I reported that to the headquarter in Leeds, but all that returned was the message "Keep your eyes open, Captain"... *damn* We nearly passed the system, nearly reached the gate to Omega 7, i was sitting in my chair with a cup of rheinlandish coffee (got it from a Republican i met at Mainz Storage) and almost forgot the Hunter's words... "AMBUSH!!!!!!" The lane was disrupted and the Shire on the left side was immediatly hit by several heavy torpedos - and exploded right at our side. Then we suffered a hit, half of the engine room was destroyed, nearly all weapons were offline. I never thought my ship would have to take such casualties - three men died and six others were wounded...And we didn't even fire one shot *shakes his head* And the bombers? gone...as quickly as they appeared. It seems their only target was to hit one or two of the freighters and maybe an escort ship, if possible. We managed to reach Holstein without any other hostile contact and dropped the refugees at a "Fluechtlingslager", as some Rheinland Police officer called it (Notice: "Fluechtlingslager" = "Refugee Camp"). Our way back through the Omegas was better - no contact, not even a Freelancer. The "Westliche Rheinland Flotte" is doing a great job down there, so we managed to reach Leeds without any delay... The result of the day: Escort Gleaves: DAMAGED Shire 1: OK Shire 2: OK Shire 3: DESTROYED Escort Ingham: DAMAGED Escort Buckley: OK and that's enough for today, now I need a drink, a strong one... --- Capt. Ryan Dukes --- *** Closing File ***
