I don't think the Liners have their own field in the tech chart, they are all more or less civilian ships.

I have another question about Researchers. Does the phrase "Cannot ally with anyone" on the Researcher ID mean that it has to be the only ID when used in a faction?

I think Researcher ID'd ships are meant to be independent.
If you want to RP a researcher in a faction, you should just use the faction ID.
