The Bretonian/Zoner conflict(?) has stirred up quite a bit of trouble with the other political entities of Sirius - causing quite a few factions which were otherwise ambivalent to many of the other factions that chose to become involved, to take sides.

From what I have seen, the NTF and the VR have clearly sided with the Zoners (the NTF seemed to have been rather careful in its dealings with the Bretonians before, but are now rather miffed about a Spyglass that was destroyed by several Bretonian Battleships).

Curiously, the Corsairs have sided against the Zoners (though this may have been before the whole Bretonia incident) - and have begun launching attacks on Zoner real estate.

The RM has also taken a tentatively pro-Bretonian stance as evidenced by their support in O-3 (though no Rheinland ships ever actually fired upon Zoner ships, instead firing only on the unlawful fleet as a "police action" of sorts).

It's unknown at this point how the rest of Sirius will react - In the Omicrons, the Outcasts may or may not come to the aid of the Zoners against the Corsair threat (though at the displeasure of both the Order and the Bounty Hunters - as the Zoners would have to supply any Outcast vessels that would come to help - Outcast ships in the Hunter/Order occupied Omegas are a big no-no as evidenced by the indie OC lolcap massacre in delta by the Hunters).

The Bretonian reaction to the Corsairs - though most likely will not change from the shoot on sight policy they've got in place already - has the possibility that some concessions be made on both sides to sport a less hostile (though still very much so) relationship which in turn may or may not jeopardize the Pro-bretonian sentiment among the Outcasts (already probably a tad bit strained by the Bretonian conflict with the Zoners - seeing how the Zoners hold a crucial system for Outcast slave trade).

At present, it looks like the Bretonians have ultimately opened up several new fronts on which they must fight while winning a possible reprieve and re-enforcement from others - The NTF and VR, which are quite formidable and a potentially very aggravating thorn has been placed conveniently at the Bretonian side - While possible (but highly unlikely) reprieve from the Corsair front may compensate for increased pressure from NTF and VR pressure from the "south" in the Omegas, the RM has proven to be a strong ally of the Bretonians (possibly to the dissatisfaction of the Kusari/Hydrogen fuel monopoly), and the Libertonians have been observed to harbor a mild anti-zoner sentiment themselves.

While none of these political movements will be of any consequence in the long run (since they do not match with established future canon) it's still worth looking into - and might be fun to discuss.

I'm actually fascinated by Discovery, that we have a full system of alliances and wars that change dynamically based on in-game events.

The NTF and Bretonia are still not on hostile terms, and the incidents in Omega-3 may be brushed under the rug and forgotten about, depending how the talks go. From what I'm told, they are still interested in a non-violent resolution to the fighting that happened between us in Omega-3.

The Corsairs' hostility to the Zones occurred after the situation between the Zoners and the Bretonians, but a lot of the leadup to it happened prior, when the Zoners started to refuse to send food to Crete. From what I'm told, the Corsairs finding the Zoners allying with the SCRA in Omega-3 was the catalyst that sent them from 'tensions' to 'hostile'.

This is a very iffy situation. I'm no longer part of the decision-making group for the Outcasts, but from history, I'd say it'd take a lot of persuasion by the Zoners. The Outcasts have had their own issues with the Zoners in the past, and still do. Most likely we'll be seeing the Outcasts fighting the Corsairs on their own, separate from the Zoners.

Any cooperation with the Corsairs is highly unlikely..

Those are my thoughts/views.

due to the fact that corsairs are looking at cambridge as contested space and their 'under the table alliance' with kusari, VERY unlikely.

The leaders of TBH and Benitez can correct me if I'm wrong but as of now its only several indies, [A], and the Black Sails on hostile terms with Zoners. There has been much build up to it going back to the OPG days to eight months ago when we tussled out side FP9 over a OC BS docked there to the crap that happened in O-3 (Zoners siding with SCRA and attacking us.)

Same goes with the Order and the TCG|

Siding with BAF? Probably will kill Zoners first then take them out last but BAF are just as hostile as ZOners to us.

A few different angles, explanations of the likely responses of factions I have major characters in. Might be helpful.

I seriously doubt that Bretonia is willing to work with an enemy they've hated for centuries in any situation that does not threaten their total annihilation. Bretonian pride usually takes precedence over strategic prudence.

~ Admiral Daniel Haynes of the BAF|

Rheinland likes Bretonia. Rheinland finds Zoners quaint, but would prefer not to get into a tussle with them without a pressing reason (such as an ultimatum from Bretonia, or Zoners interfering in their progress in Bering). I do not expect any RM ships to fire on Zoners unless the Zoners are either A) openly allying with forces attacking the RM or B) the Zoners attack the BAF in the presence of the RM.

~ Leutnant Lenora Schneider of the [RM]

Das Wilde doesn't mind the concept of Bretonia being without shoulders to lean on a few months from now. People fighting each other are also not fighting the Nomads, which is nice. They'll chip in to nudge things in favorable directions, but mostly will just watch as you do everything yourselves. Mostly. There are a few things that need to be kept safe, after all.

~ Hektor Schneider

Gallia is going to smile pretentiously with joy as its enemies tear each others' throats out.

90% of the time Corsairs have started to target only the independent zoners because those could not be vouched for. While factions like OSI and TaZ or C were left alone because some of their members supplied crete with food.

this way we could oorp-ly encourage zoners to get in faction and actually learn to do things better while benefiting the safety. But those times were when some people I knew lead those zoner factions and they were pretty much open for negotiation.

If zoners are simply refusing to bring food, then zoners do not have to make any more moves, they made a good enough move, it should be Corsair time to answer.

But will this actually lead to some major politic shifts, I doubt it. Bretonia can only get peace from Corsairs when they leave Cambridge, and well, that's just not going to happen. Cambridge feeds entire nation.
Moving from that, SCRA and Zoners can only be friends for so long. After all, people seem to be dazzled by nice speeches and fancy ships but they were the enemy for a reason.

Hessian - Zoner bond? Hm, why not. but guess what, I'm sure they'll expect you to haul goods for them too.

I will continue helping those in need, carrying what they need or them. As I will try to save as many lives as possible for ships damaged or destroyed.
For me the important thing is people, not party affiliation and only put my life and my crew in danger to fulfill our mission.
That means we will continue carrying food to Crete and saving military and civilian Bretonnia, like SCRAs and Kusarians.
We never shoot anyone over a piece of space or a space station.
We have neither friends nor enemies, only people who need help.

Corsairs have shot themselves in the foot with this. I point to two quotes on the Wiki:

Quote:Today the Corsairs, while not as desperate as in previous ages, are still dangerously short of food, which necessitates regular shipments of smuggled food from the Houses to Crete. Their smuggling of Artifacts is a major source of income, a large portion of which is used to buy resources and food shipments from the Zoners and from the various Houses and factions of Sirius.
Quote:The economy of the Corsairs is based around smuggling and piracy. They are heavily involved in the transport of Alien Artifacts to third-party distributors such as the Junkers and Hogosha, who then transport the goods to dealers on House planets and bases. The profit received from this trade goes a long way towards paying for the regular shipments of food and other supplies that the Corsairs must receive from the Zoners.
With the Zoners out of the picture their only stable food supply train comes from Kusari (mostly Samura and Hogosha traders, food in, artifacts out). If the Outcasts cut those off (which is well within their capabilities) then the Corsairs starve. Plain and simple. I'm very suprised the council of elders hasn't put a stop to this and ousted the entire [A] faction from the empire, but we'll see how this pans out.

The Corsair Cruiser Tiberius, being an indy, has no problems with the Zoner faction as yet.

As the current situation is unstable, I will however be extra cautious about the 'No Fire Zone' around Planet Grand Canaria and Zoner bases.

Note that I *will* retaliate if attacked for any reason at all.

Basically, if you don't shoot me, I won't shoot you.
