Sanguinius awoke and looked up at the ceiling, his head was aching and he longed for a drink. He tried to sit up but was told to lie still by what sounded like a disembodied voice. He looked about and could make out the face of an old man sat next to him.
Take it easy stranger the voice said, It must have been pretty rough on you, to have survived in that heap of junk floating out there.
I must have passed out again, the next time I came to I was feeling a lot better and was able to sit up without to much trouble.
The old guy entered the room and I could make out his features, he appeared about 60yrs of age, about 1.73cm in height and walked with an air of authority. His name was Jake and he called himself a Zoner whatever that was.
Where am I I said. He replied On the good ship Hyperion, a transport bound for Freeport 7.
I seemed to recall a fight, and a vast space armada, but nothing much else. Now I was on a transport heading to good knows where.
Jake explained about the system Sirius all the factions, politics and how they came from earth in sleeper ships and set up the various houses.
I found it fascinating, Jake found me fascinating, my injuries should have killed me but apparently my body healed itself.
It had taken us two weeks to get to Freeport 7, Jake was in no rush, and he would spend the time telling me about his exploits and adventures. He asked for nothing so I was more than willing to help and became his unpaid deck hand.
We had just docked at Freeport 7 Jake had gone to sell the load we had just brought, when suddenly the station alarms sounded. I rushed into the transport control room and looked out of the cockpit. I saw some blue ships about three I think, then the ships fired some sort of missile or torpedo, I dont know which. One hit the docking bay where the office was located that Jake had gone to. There was a loud explosion, the ships computer was warning me of an air loss and was advising the crew take to the escape pods.
Air was venting into space and my breathing was becoming ragged, my vision was blurring and I was on the point of passing out, when I finally managed to crawl into the escape pod. The system ejected me away from the transport and the station and I remember seeing the ships just vanish.
It seemed like forever before any rescue ships came on the scene, my pod was taken on board a big cruiser and I was taken to the med centre for a check over. I was ok nothing wrong with me, I could not find out anything about other survivors and was told to stay in my cabin and everything would be sorted when we got to Manhatten.
On arrival the place was a scene of panic, navy patrols where out. News crews were poking cameras in other survivors faces, the place was in pandemonium. I was ok so I was left whilst others where taken to the hospitals to receive further treatment. I made my way to the navy officers where an ensign had put up a list of those that had died and the missing presumed dead
My heart sank when I saw Jakes name amongst the dead. He had been a good friend, what was I to do; my only friend in this system had died. I had no money and was on a strange planet. I took many a job to earn my keep some not always on the right side of the law.
Great news I have been told that the LSF are looking for pilots, seems those blue ships have been given a name Nomads. The LSF are not interested in me as pilot, back to the docks then.
I have kept track of the news on the local telecasts; the war with the Nomads is over and peace as returned in some form to Sirius.
Todays the day I buy my first ship, I hear that silver is found in the Colorado system and I can get a decent price for it at Manhatten. Its only one jump away; I have been told that I should watch myself out there; Xenos are operating in the area. I will still go, the moneys to good not to.
That was all a few years ago, now I am a successful trader with one of those new Advanced Transports shes a beauty and I have named her after Jakes ship the Hyperion
Ive heard over the comm chatter that Rheinland have experienced a shortage of Niobium, so I am heading down that way to see if any profit can be made.
Its a lonesome job this hauling, RepEx Shipping are advertising for traders and some security job. Maybe Ill give them a go, its about time I started to help others like Jake had helped me

Well it seems Rheinland is suffering from a Niobium shortage, I can take diamonds up to Kyushu seems like a good little run with I hope not to much pirate activity.
Seems that some of the traders on this run are getting hit pretty hard by the pirates, seems kinda unfair to me we do all the work they take all the profits.
Been reading a bit about this RepEx Company, wanting to start a security firm. I think i might go give them a look over see what the operations are like.
Well I liked what i saw, now I am part of a big corporation with all the benefits. Got myself a good fighter craft. Time for a little payback now. Flown a few operations with the guys from the Rheinland Military, fine pilots all of them. They certainly know how to take those pirates down, sometimes I think I might be in the way but hey we all have to learn don't we.
The security dept as gone under a revamp and we are now named the Black Talons, don't mind the name as long as we take down pirates. Some good news as well seems my exploits have not gone un-noticed and I have risen to the rank of Wing Commander. With rank comes responsbilty and a ship upgrade now the proud commander of a Rheinland Gunboat named Iceman. Still keeping my fighter she's been very dependable and I would miss the old girl.
Intelligence as revealed the rise of Gunboats and Cruiser's been used by enemies of Rheinland and our beloved company, with that in mind I am going to commission the purchase of a bomber type unknown as yet. It will hopefully aid in the destruction of these capital ships.

I have been let down by the corrupt officials of the Republican Express Corporation. I had not known how deep the vile corrruption went. In light of the recent events and the information i have uncovered I have decided to leave the company. I will not be lettting the authorities know how deep the corruption goes for fear of my life, maybe when i am more prepared I may let the authorities know what I have uncovered.
I am liquidating my assests and have decided to put all my efforts into finding a crew and ship worthy to explore the Border and Edge worlds. I feel my time as come to try and find a wormhole that may be the route back to my space.
I am currently mining and hope to eventually purchase one ship that i deem suitable, the CR and BSG are very active in this area and i feel safe from those that might harm me. I have yet to make contact and I hope they see me as a friend. So at the moment I am currently mining Niobium and running it to Dresden.
With regard to the ships that I have, those are not suitable for deep space exploration. We shall see what prevails in the future but for now its a miners life for me. The reps are all sorted so I should be ok for now
