To the IMG high command and the Colonial Government - Xahin - 10-01-2010

Greetings, commanders.

This transmission for reporting an incident which began in Liberty and found an end near Java.
Indeed, one of my employees, while he was going from Magellan to New Berlin with the order to purchase a new hauler, saw an Argus battlecruiser in the heart of New York, undocking from Baltimore shipyard. Feeling immediately something was wrong, he tried to open a channel with the Argus captain, identified as "Kapitan_Solo" making him aware about Liberty policy concerning foreigner warships, and our own ones for the usage of Zephyrs and Argus class vessels.
The only response he received was a strange signal identified as ":)", typical of Lawl's syndrome.

To avoid any diplomatic incident, I undocked from Java with my Nyx fighter, the *JMC*Pickaxe. When I reached Liberty, sensors indicated the Kapitan_Solo was in Magellan. I followed him in Leeds, Cambridge and Omega-3, before finding him near our shipyard.

With some difficulties, I could open a channel with him and told him his behaviour was against our laws. I scanned the ship and found no IMG Guard papers. I asked him to return to Java and escorted him through Bretonia ; we were only seen by the [Convoy] group, who didn't made any commentary. When we reached Java, the Kapitan_Solo docked and I talked about the incident with a CR soldier identified as =CR=Blackwind[44th]. We both thought it would be better if the captain let the Argus back to competent hands, at least for a time : it was anyway not registered to the Battlecruisers and Zephyrs database, and the captain had even not any guard ID paper.

When Kapitan_Solo undocked from Java, Blackwind demanded him to resell the ship, he received no other answer than seeing the turrets targeting him. Feeling the events could turn bad, I docked on Java and switched to my Pytho bomber, the *JMC*Hammer. After that, the Kapitan_Solo tried to activate a powerful cloaking device.

It worked for one or two minutes, then we saw him again on our scanners. As we asked several times to resell the ship, he ignored us and finally tried to run to Tau-44. He was ignoring an order from a Colonial soldier. Blackwind gave the order to engage the rogue element ; we disabled his shields and brought his hull to 70% before he decided to comply. He finally resold the Argus for a Spatial heavy miner.

I thought necessary to report the incident, because this was the first time I felt forced to engage a vessel belonging to my own faction. However, this is not the first time we see IMG warships outside the space allowed by our laws. This kind of behaviour could cost us diplomatic problems with the houses authorities.

If my own behaviour in this incident -shooting on IMG war material- is considered as sanctionable by the higher command, I'm ready to pay for my faults ; but be advised the fight I had was the last thing I wished.

On your service,

Robert Johnson out.

Re: Capital ships

Seeing the Perhelion near Magellan is not uncommon. This carrier and her fighter wings are tasked with the defense of the station and, as best as possible, keep the lanes clear of pirates. In accordance with the Curacao accord, the IMG is well entitled to keep such vessels in the system.

The Argus class battlecruiser is another story. We have recently had a similar encounter... the captain of that vessel however seemed genuinely unaware of the accords between Rheinland, the IMG and Bretonia regarding stationing capital ships there. After a lengthy conversation, with significant difficulty (my Rheinlandish is a little rusty, but the captain could not speak common Sirian) we managed to convince him to return to the Tau systems. The vessel in question, the "Tim_Krieger" did have the appropriate guard identification. It is however, lacking in the registry.

I will leave it to the defense director to handle this matter. But I must admit to be a little concerned to see fewer registered ships then unregistered ones.

[font=Georgia][color=#66FF99]We would like to also express our concern regarding the number of incompetents that are commanding those ships lately. The Colonial Republic will support the Guild to enforce a tighter control on those ships by any means.

As for the incident presented by Mr. Johnson; opening fire on a rogue element is not something to blame. You made the right decisions.

With respect,
Elizabeth Branwen
