Can anyone help me to decide what weapons I need to equip to balance the requirements of weapons, shield and thrust with power available? I am flying a Baracuda and trying to RP a bounty hunter.

Here's a standard load-out for a Barracuda:
PB81 "Warrior Mk I" Bounty Hunter Particle Blaster
SG-c2 "Advanced Sentinel" Heavy Fighter Graviton Shield
CD95XT Train Cruise Disruptor
Universal Armor Upgrade Mk VIII
CM-4 Enhanced Countermeasure Dropper
MX-17 Nuclear Mine Dropper
Enhanced Thruster
If you plan on doing some PVP though, get a Manta or you may have problems claiming bounties:
Manta - AP-18100 Bounty Hunter Very Heavy Fighter
Same load-out as above but with these guns:
PB91 "Buckshot" Bounty Hunter Particle Blaster
And this shield:
SG-e2 "Advanced Champion" Heavy Fighter Graviton Shield
You can also substitute two of the Buckshots with these for improved shield-busting capabilities:
CP-m "Debilitator" Civilian Improved Mk I Pulse Cannon

Thanks mate, I am new to this (only been playing a week)and have only tried a trader before. Since I wanted to try a Bounty Hunter, I installed 6 Eco chainguns which use up my available power veerrryy fast and have been getting my butt kicked regularly. :$

Barracudas are called "Mark 1" fighters because their stats are downright terrible. What you can do, to get a feel for the ship is to go to Deshima station in Shikoku and run missions. I worked a character up from scratch to a Manta that way, though it took a while. You can find what loadout works best for you through missions.
