To: The Council [C] - Tabris - 10-31-2010 Comm ID: Ben Warner, Commandante, Sirius Coalition Revolutionary Army. "Good morning, I am Commandante Warner, representing the Sirius Coalition. As you know the Coalition has sent scouts into Gallia to determine the validity of your claims of a possible invasion of Gallia into the Sirius sector, we have determined that the Gallic Navy is indeed a real threat and are currently taking steps to prepare for an eventual invasion by Gallia into Sirius. However the Sirius Coalition finds itself lacking ships that can stand up to the might of this Gallic Royal Navy, our scouts however have determined that the vessel known as the 'Cassard' which was disabled by your forces may prove to be the answer to both our problems in terms of firepower. The current damages gleaned from scans of the ship in question and from rumours around the system are; Engine Damage (Moderate-High) Data Core (High) Rear Weapon Turrets (High) Hull Integrity (Low-Moderate) Life-Support (Low-Moderate) Despite the damage done to the ship we believe that our Engineers may be able to bring the ship back on-line and into a fighting state, however we would request your permission to board the Cassard in Life-Support suits and determine the extent of the damage from the inside and if possible begin to initiate repairs before the Gallic Navy begins it's final push into Council-Held space. Comrades, this vessel is a symbol, that people do not need to fear tyranny as long as there are those who are willing to sacrifice their lives, their time and their livelihood in the hope that they can make a difference, bringing the ship on-line and arrayed against the Gallic forces as a ship united under freedom would give hope to those who have lost all hope, show Sirius that the Gallic Navy is just another force that if united against can be defeated. All I ask Comrades, is the chance to bring hope to both our peoples and give our own forces a fighting chance at combating the threat of the Gallic Royals. For the Revolution, For Sirius and For Gallia!" ===End Transmission=== To: The Council [C] - Veyron - 11-01-2010 *** Incoming Council Communique - ID Code A.D:01 ***
*** Signal Boost: Chalons-en-Champagne Station - Main Array *** Good Evening Commandante Warner ~ I am Alexander Du Lac, General of the Council Liberation Navy. I understand you are interested in trying to salvage the shattered remains of the Battle Ship Cassard. Unfortunately your engineers have given you an overly optimistic review of the hulk. Our own engineering teams have spent several months picking through it's remains and by now there is so little remaining of any salvagable quality to make the hulk worthless. On a similar note, the engines - which were crippled by the Democratie's sacrifice - would mean an entire overhaul of the engine core and all its related systems, bearing in mind you'd be dealing with Gallic technology this would seem frankly a waste of time and resources. There is also the issue of the wrecks symbolic status - it was a brought down, against the odd's by the kind of sacrifice that I wish had never been necessary. It rests there as a testament to the Councils determination in the face of our enemy, so in memory of the lives lost there - we have decided the hulk shall remain where it is. I'm sure this is not the response you had hoped for, for what it's worth I do not enjoy saying 'No' to people ~ simply put, tying to repair the Cassard would be a drain on your resources that I doubt you would want. Yours, A. Du Lac *** Transmission Terminated ***
To: The Council [C] - Tabris - 11-01-2010 Comm ID: Ben Warner, Commandante, Sirius Coalition Revolutionary Army. "While It saddens me that you would outright reply no, however your argument is somewhat flawed. While I am aware that the engines would require a complete overhaul, I believe that together our united engineering teams can bring the engines to life long enough to move her to a safe location to conduct a complete overhaul of it's systems. From what I understand of these Royals I doubt they would care much for your symbols and from what your organization has spoken of before, they will be coming in force, they will take back what you have liberated and these people do not seem to be the type to just leave a Battleship in the dead of space when they can simply either repair it themselves or scrap it to acquire more resources. Monuments are only valued intact Comrade, the men and women who died onboard the Democratie I am absolutely sure would want their sacrifice to not be in vain, would it not be better to honour they're sacrifice by taking what they have brought down and turning it into a instrument of freedom? My people try not to waste valuable resources, it dishonours the sacrifices of those before us if we waste what was given to us or what we have taken, All I ask is that you at least allow one of our Engineering teams alongside one of your own attempt to bring the Engines back to life, if not than our teams can set explosive charges onboard and when the Royals do attempt to reclaim their ship, we can deny them that satisfaction and perhaps take they're own troops down with the ship. Please at least think about it. Signed Commandante Warner." To: The Council [C] - Veyron - 11-03-2010 *** Incoming Council Communique - ID Code A.D:01 ***

ID: General Alexander Du Lac Commandante Warner - this is a somewhat lengthy response to your previous message, I have taken some time to consider and reconsider the various merits of your proposal. However, the answer has not changed. These excerpts come from the conclusion of a joint report by the Languedoc Engineering Corp, Council High Command, Council Security Service, Champagne Engineering Corp and the Council Arms and Munitions department. I include them to show you exactly how much thought and time went into the issue. It was tasked with reporting on the state of the wreckage and the viability of a total repair of the Cassard and has concluded the following - '' It is this reports conclusion that under NO circumstances should any attempt be made to reclaim the vessel, we cataloged multitude of TOTAL critical system failures and several MAJOR structural weaknesses and problems that render the vessel for all intent and purpose 'dead'. Not only would it consume vast resources to repair onsite- it would necessitate a near permanent defensive patrol wing protecting the site: presenting a clear security threat to our front lines and stretching our reserve wings. Finally, if we did somehow restore the engine drive systems AND structural integrity - we would need to clear several million tonnes of scrap from the debris field to be able to extract the Cassard from the site safely and intact. '' '' Languedoc currently posses no facility capable of repairing the Cassard fully, the Engineering Corp will require the use of either the primary Naval Ship Yard on Marne OR Chalons en Champagnes dry dock facility to begin full repair. It is our professional opinion that unless the Cassard was returned to Champagne, it would never be restoed to combat readiness -it would also necessitate the full time occupation of one of our few expanded dry docks, reducing our ability to repair our own 'battle damaged' rather than 'wrecked' capital ships. Not only would simply getting the wreck untangled from the field be a dangerous task - it would necessitate the safe transit of a giant powerless and defenseless target through 2 Royalist controlled systems.'' ''Finally there is the total cost of the venture - which comes in at 2.2 billion credits and approximately 8 months of continuous repair work at one of our main facilities, these figures were calculated based on materials, payment of round the clock work teams and the construction of a short term repair station near the wreck in Languedoc and an optimistic time prediction based on previous attempts to repair similar vessels - We have NEVER attempted a repair of this magnitude. This figure does NOT include the cost of any defensive structures and security measures that would be VITAL for the project to succeed - nor the potential loss of ships in the event of an attack on the site by GRN forces. Nor does our estimate include any margin for set backs such as crippling strikes by GRN bomber packs and transports lost attempting to supply the work site.'' ''It is the Security Services evaluation that the project to restore the Cassard fully would be an exceptionally high risk venture - we do not posses full control over the system and the position of a junker facility nearby would mean that we would have a matter of days if not hours to construct a defensive line around the Cassard before the GRN was informed of our movements. Needless to say, the GRN are not fools, they would never allow us to 'reclaim' the Cassard and would no doubt wait until we had invested a considerable amount of time and resources before striking the site. Finally, the issues relating to our continued control over the southern sector of Languedoc factor in another potential risk to the projects success. Basically, there is a no guarantee the repair site won't be overrun along with the rest of Languedoc before its work is done.'' -----
As you can see, these excerpts paint the reality of trying to reclaim the Cassard, I would ask you to personally consider the fact that it is simply not feasible, had it ever been so I imagine the High Command would have authorized such a mission by now. Now, before you launch further arguments for the reclamation of the Cassard I would also ask you to consider this: It would cost us (the Council) greatly - and for what? So the SCRA may use a Valor. Against god knows whom. In your original communication you referred to the Council as 'Comrades', but in reality we do not know each other and the SCRA have earned the trust of absolutely no one in the High Command - some of which are not exactly enthusiastic at the prospect of helping communists and the ideological descendants of a former foe. I imagine this answer has not been the satisfactory one you had hoped for, but it is the answer of the High Command and has been formulated at considerable time and effort. Your's: A. COMM ID: Premier Alvin Katz of the Coalition LOCATION: Office of the Premier ' Omega-52 TARGET ID: All Parties in Comm Channel Gentlemen, Bonjour. You must excuse the fact that I use English in our communiques as matters of state have kept me too busy to progress very far with French lessons. A matter that will be rectified in the future. I must, at this time, interject a note of caution to the Council government that we, the Coalition are not their enemies, nor do we ever seek to be such. On the contrary, our goals are similar, we each seek the freedom of our respective peoples. (the Ideological ends of this, I grant you, are different Government forms. But we are not here to debate which system of governance is better.) We have made great strides forward in offering what support we could you your groups predecessors, the Republique du Gaul. Material, man power, and at times, combat support. Even going so far as to offer their leadership safe haven when their cause collapsed in the face of the Royalist threat, a threat that I know you all bear the brunt of. I will not seek to rest upon our laurels, Gallia is a difficult and troubling place, and your struggle means that the constant threat of war washes away the old to replace it with the new frequently. It is I who am remiss, I should have dispatched a diplomatic mission to you sooner, but... and I must pay you a compliment here... it has been difficult to identify the new leadership of le Council. Trust is earned, and our intentions are genuine. How can we help you shore up your lines against the gathering storm? What political assistance can we offer to you? The Royalists have many enemies here in Sirius, perhaps we can facilitate diplomatic missions with some of them who would be as eagre as we are to make contact and support your cause, knowing that your thin line is all that stands between us and chaos. Think on it, Comrade General, chief's of staff. You are not alone here, in unity there is a strength many forget.
