Gallic Pride - Tabris - 11-06-2010

Dijon Station, the largest space colony in the Gallic Border Worlds under Gallic Royal Naval, twin dry-docks on each arm, working day and night to improve the might of the Navy and Police's grip upon the Border Worlds. While a Perilous was being constructed in the right arm, within the left a majestic sight was beheld, silver-grey hull panels, a long profile the insignia of the Royal Navy underneath and on the front of the large vessel.

It's engines were cool and inoperative much like most of the ship, but that would change soon enough, as Engineering teams worked on the hull of the ship in Environmental Suits, welding and smoothing out each seam in the hull with great vigor a small shuttle drifted close by, onboard a man stared out from behind the pilots at the vessel, he wore the Uniform of a Gallic Royal Naval Commandant, his white uniform fitting well on his body, the man weighed nearly 225 lb which was mostly muscle due to the Royal Navy's emphasis on physical fitness for officers on the line of duty, his hair was a graying colour, showing his age while his cold blue eyes gazed out at the ship that was soon to be his own.

Looking to the Pilot while ignoring the Co-Pilot he nodded.

"Sous-Lieutenant, I want you to bring us closer to the aft of the Caen." he ordered in a calm, even voice, the younger pilot nodded while the Co-Pilot frowned at being ignored but it quickly fled as he remembered whom they were transporting.

Julien Lefevre, a 38 year old man, he was a minor noble but not related to the king in any way, he was adopted into the Lefevre family after his own parents died, he was raised on New Paris where he received his education and enrolled in the Royal Navy as soon as he was old enough. After Nineteen years he finally climbed the ranks to Commandant, Julien smiled slightly as they went towards the aft section of the massive ship, even when only partly constructed it still somehow carried a sense of pride within his heart, knowing that this was one of the Kingdom's instruments of justice against the murdering Maquis, the rebellious Council and all the others who supported their cause.

The Caen would be ready to launch in a week or two, depending on supplies and the pace the shipyard engineers work at...Julien in the meantime would wait on Dijon and observe the construction...All he had to do was be patient...

---Two Days Later---

Apparently Work was proceeding at a faster rate than realized, spurred on by the more recent promises of Victory over the Council by the High Command, Julien now stood on the bridge of the Caen, it still was not completed, but it was well on the way to it.

As he strolled around the bridge, watching as technicians and engineers pieced the hardware of the ship together and trying to get it ready before Commandant Lefevre had to leave for New Paris. He brushed his hand against the smooth leather Commandant's chair in the center of the bridge, almost like a long lost lover touching the face of his or her soulmate.

Shutting his eyes he listened to the work around him, catching snippets of conversation between the crewmen as they went about their business.

"Have you heard about the more recent intruders into Gallia?", the voice lacked experience, likely a junior officer who has barely seen any action as of yet, with a small smile the Commandant shook his head as he continued to listen to the conversations.

"So, after all these years we may finally have our first taste of Sirius, don't you feel nervous Andre?" another voice asked, it was slightly older than the last one, yet inquisitive, the reply was more experienced judging by the sound of it, more gravely in 'texture'. "Oui, I am, but I try to keep my wits about me, I try to think of my loved ones back in the Core Worlds, it calms me down and allows me to keep working." the older voice spoke.

Julien opened his eyes calmly and smiled all so softly to himself, he would lead these men to victory, their hopes and dreams rested in his hands, and thus it was up to him to make them a reality or not...Time would tell...Settling into the seat he was handed a Datapad by an Engineer, detailing the total completion of the vessel...Nodding as he started to go through it Julien made a mental note to listen more often...Who knows what he might pick up?

Dijon Station was quiet, the only ship in the area at the moment was the RNS Caen, it's hull was dark, dead for all intents and purposes, slowly some lights started to come on throughout the ship, hull panels being lit by the light of the ship as it slowly came to life, it's engines started to glow a soft blue hue as it came on-line.

Onboard the bridge, Julien just looked forwards out into space while the crew began preparations to get underway.

"Engine-Core is online, the Engine Room reports we are ready to initiate impulse on your mark Commandant." a voice spoke over the intercom, the Navigations Officer turned in his chair towards Julien and nodded, his young face full of life and a smile on his face.

"Confirmed, Navigational Array is also online as well as the Cruise Engines." he reported, turning back to his console as another station reported it's readiness.

"Commandant, Shield grids and Weapons are online, we are ready for whatever those Council fools throw at us sir!" the middle-aged Tactical Officer reported sharply, not a hint of humour in his eyes as he stood stiffly at attention, Julien nodded as each station reported it's readiness and willingness to fight the enemy.

Standing up he folds his hands behind him.

"Gentlemen and Ladies of the Caen, this is Commandant Lefevre speaking, I want each and every one of you to know I am proud of you for the work each one of you put into getting the ship ready, I will not lie to you, some of us might not come back, but I promise you this, we will take back what is our King's and beyond, there will be people who will try to stop our mission, however they shall fail!" he calmly spoke, his voice gaining intensity with each sentence, looking around he looked each crewman and officer in the eyes before continuing.

"You are part of the Caen's crew, a Valor in the service of his Majesty the King, do him proud, do your families proud and do the very Kingdom proud by each and every action you take in the fight against the enemy....Helm..." he spoke calmly before smiling softly.

"Take us out..."
