History:
Robert Merlow was born on Planet Manhatten to a Kusari immigrant and a native Libertonian. His father was a member of the Liberty Senate, representing the Northwest continent, while his mother was a programmer at Ageira Technologies. His father was an advocate for workers rights and anti-discriminatory movements, working hard to bring about reform and to lessen military spending. His mother was the chief computer engineer at Ageira Technologies, working as hard as she could to counteract the hacking measures of the Lane Hackers. Merlow himself was fascinated with literature, and was reading many of old Earth's great literature. He was also an active member of his school's newspaper, becoming Editor-in-Chief in a matter of months. His articles would periodically be put in the local newspaper, and his articles would also win many awards in his local community. For sixteen years, he lived in relative comfort. Then the nomads came.

There had been some shake-ups within the Liberty Naval hierarchy, and some senators advocating less military spending were disappearing. His father had some contacts within the LSF, among them being the legendary Jun'ko Zane: Commander of the Liberty Security Force. When Juni couldn't contact anyone in the Liberty Navy, she contacted Robert's father. She told him about the drastic changes in the military hierarchy, and was in shock to learn similar events were happening in the senate as well. She and Freelancer Edison Trent prepared to leave the planet.

Merlow's family was preparing to do the same. Merlow's mother, being an Ageira Employee, knew the ins and outs of the tradelane system and prepared a program that would make the California Jump Gate go all the way to Kusari Space. No one would figure it out. His father, on the other hand, was pulling as many strings as he could to ensure safe passage through Liberty Space. He arranged for many members of the Liberty Navy to evacuate to Kusari Space and make contact with Commander Zane when they got there.

The day came, and Merlow boarded the Ageira transport. When they cleared the atmosphere, they were met with their naval escort to the California Jump Gate. They passed through trade lane to West Point, unscathed. They entered the trade lane to the California Jump Gate. Everything was running smoothly, until about halfway to the Jump Gate.

There was a few Liberty Rouges that disrupted the tradelane and began to attack the convoy. The transport took a few hits, but the Rouges were eliminated. Unfortunately, that distraction gave the Nomad Officials enough time to get the orders to stop any and all traffic in and out of the system out to a few of the Naval patrol ships guarding the California Jump Gate. There were a total of ten Liberty Naval Fighters and one Liberty Destroyer.

Destroyer Captain - "Ageira Transport Sigma-9-Alpha, power down your engines and prepare to be boarded."

Leader of Escort Wing - "Captain, this is Eagle-1 of the 1st Naval Division. We are escorting Senator Merlow to their house in the California System. My orders come from the President herself."

"Send over the orders." The captain looked over the orders, eying them carefully to make sure that they weren't fake.

"They look legit. Pass on through."

"Thank you, Captain."

They passed through the Jump Gate Modified to reach a Kusari Jump Gate. They made it through successfully and rendezvous with Jun'ko in Kusari Space. It was there that they met the Blood Dragons, and where Merlow learned out to fight. Taught personally by Lord Hakkera, he learned the ways of the Kusari Warrior. He excelled in ranged weapons and was sufficient at hand-to-hand combat, but he was not the best of Lord Hakkera's trainees. The best of the best was a young man about his age. They called him "Acid." The name stuck. Acid was the very best in his class, and Merlow was second. They learned everything together, and soon became fast friends.

After the Nomad War, Merlow and Acid went their separate ways. Merlow became a Reporter, and Acid became a Mercenary. Until a few weeks ago, Merlow was nothing but a News Reporter. But after the temporal anomaly, he became a Naval Officer.

After several weeks in the service of the Freedom Fighters, Robert Merlow became a Fleet Captain. It was at this time he was "given" his cybernetic implants. Without his knowledge, members of Section 31, a bureau of the United Federation of Planets (Starfleet), brought him aboard one of their starships and modified him, creating a clone of his deceased friend Acid in the proceed. Thanks to these modifications he is more powerful physically and mentally than equivalent genetically mutated monsters. With this Section 31 picked up and left, leaving him at a hospital on New York. he rose again to Vice Admiral, and with the disappearance of Fleet Admiral Cerun, he became Supreme Military Commander of all Liberty Military Resources: Freedom Fighter Fleet Admiral.

Merlow has been through a total of three universi, and now travels through a man-made jump hole to escape the disintegration of his third universe. He comes with the entire Liberty First Fleet and Zeta Fleet, escorting the new sleeper ships that the four houses and two main spanish faction created in order to escape from the universe.

Personality:
Merlow is known to be one of the most imposing figures on the battlefield, boasting extensive experience in both space and land battles. His very presence on the battlefield is known to have a profound effect on the battle at hand, usually resulting in victory. On numerous occasions, such as during the Bretonian Conflict and the Sigma War, he was a key component in the defeat of the opposing force.

He commands the respect and loyalty of the entire First Fleet, having been one of the original "core" from their first universe. He reciprocates that loyalty and is willing to do whatever it takes to ensure that those under his command make it back home safely.

He is a stable, sane individual, able to make decisions that seem to outstrip normal logic but make sense of the situation at hand. He is kind, and tactful, but not one to get angry. Liable to hold grudges, it is hard to earn his trust, but once earned it remains for a lifetime. Personable, and a patriot of Liberty, he holds the ideals of Liberty in high regard even during the darkest of hours.

History:
This universe's Robert Merlow was born into a world of crime and money on the busy and overpopulated world of New Tokyo. Born to a Libertonian mother and Kusari father, his childhood was one of learning the ways of the underworld. His father was the Doyen of the Kanzaki Yakuza, meaning that he lead all operations of an entire House Sector. For the first fifteen years of his life, he grew up learning this trade, picking it up extremely rapidly. He was taught by Kanzaki Reito himself, the son of the Kanzaki Sasuke, leader of the Kanzaki Yakuza. Reito was well versed in the way of the Ninja, passing this knowledge on to young Robert. Then came the Nomad Wars

Their brothers in the Blood Dragons notified Sasuke of an imminent danger to their organization. With Kusari speed and efficiency, the Kanzaki Yakuza packed up and moved all of their operations in Kusari Space into the protection of the relatively unknown space of Chugoku. It was here that Merlow was further trained in the arts of the warrior. Under the expert tutelage of Sasuke himself, he learned to handle the Nodachi in the smallest of environments, even to wield it with one hand if necessary. He learned to throw Tantos with expert percission, even learned his expert marksmanship with Reito, the family gunman. He never fought the Nomads, but did meet Edison Trent during his brief tenure aboard Kyoto Base.

After the war, he finished his training, and ascended the ranks, gaining the position of Fence. He had control of all of the Kanzaki Yakuza's operations on Planet Manhattan by the age of 17. Now 19, he holds the rank of Doyen, the youngest in the organization to hold the prestigious rank and fill it's role almost completely. He is a few years younger than his Fleet Admiral counterpart, due to the nature of inter-dimensional travel.

This version of Merlow hitched a ride with the sleeper ships and is now en route to a new home. What it will be like, he doesn't know, but he knows it's better than being swallowed by a violent Nebula.

Personality:
This Merlow has been known for his violent nature, his seemingly cold shell encasing his unbridled rage. He's known for his uncaring calculation, not caring for damage on a human level. If it profits him and the Kanzaki Yakuza, then any human cost is acceptable. He has few close friends, but despite his cold demeanor, he keeps these people is extremely high regard. He keeps his friends extremely close, but these people are few and far between.

His combat capabilities are extremely formidable, analyzed by Section 9 as "One of the most formidable humans in any universe," high praise from an organization that deals with the extraordinary every day. His combat style is much more reckless than that of Admiral Merlow. He exploits his strength with his Nodachi, taking advantage of his strength to overpower the enemy, as seen on multiple Yakuza assassinations.

He is tactful and very clever with his words. He inspires charisma just as his FF counterpart does, albeit for different reasons. He is not a man to be messed with. He is just as deadly as Admiral Merlow, perhaps even more so, due to his Yakuza upbringing.
