Reborn and Shivering. - Tabris - 11-21-2010

A Spartan-appearing room...A window overlooking the cold dephs of Omega-52, a single cot in the corner of the room, a man sitting upon it, garbed in the uniform of a Coalition Commander, in one hand he was gazing at a picture of himself and several of the old members of the Liberty Revolutionary Front. In the other, a TT-33 Combat Pistol, on the bed beside him a single clip of ammunition lay, untouched, cold if the man had the nerve to touch it.

Putting down the picture beside him onto the bed he ,with practiced ease, slides the clip into the pistol, checking it over to make sure no dirt or grime has built up. As he gazed at the pistol at a side angle he shuts his eyes, remembering the days of old, the days when he had hope, when he was vigorous...When he truly believed in what he was doing. Now...Now this long war has jaded him...Drained him of his vigor...He seemed to be aged beyond his years if one looked into his eyes, once youthful and full of good cheer, now they seemed hollow...Stripped of life as they open once again.

As the Commander stood up, the pistol in hand, he strode towards the window, just gazing outwards at the Siberia Ice Cloud. Not even flinching as a flight of Insurgents buzzed the window. He just stood there. Gazing outwards as if looking for something others could not see.

Running his free hand through his hair and just staring at what only he could see a knock is heard at the door.

"Commander Warner?" a young sounding voice asked, Ben scoffed, such youth will be stripped from the young crewman soon enough...

Looking towards the door he shouts, his voice nolonger the warm cheerful tone that he was known for, but cold as ice and hinting of annoyance.

"Do not disturb me, you try so again you will be shot." He shouted, forcing himself to calm down he continues at a lower voice, nolonger shouting, but still audible. "Now return to your post." he ordered, listening as the footsteps retreated from the door, meanwhile Ben continued to gaze out of the window...His faith in the war shattered, now he fights only because of simple duty, nolonger the patriot of old...Just another battle-worn soldier.
