Solution for F1 abuse. - Anonymous User - 11-25-2010 Greetings Ladies and Gentleman. Today I had a Idea while reading a Thread about F1ing I know servers (mainly PvP ones) which use a similar command. So... the Idea: To solve the problems with traders which F1 to flee from piracy or any other fleeing via F1 we could implement a FL-Hook command against it. lets name it "/halt"... just for example. Most of us know the situation. A trader comes in range. and... yeah nothing. He uses F1. Now you are able to blow him up if he is close enough. And report him. What means: You have waste time to make the report. And the admins have to waste time to fine/shankshun the player for this. Cenario: A Enemie comes in range. PlayerA: /halt PlayerB gets a console message: Shipcomputer: PlayerA asks you to cut your engines. PlayerB: NOOB PIRATE! PlayerB uses F1 PlayerA made a halt command before. this will trigger Schrödingers Cat. The cat does not like F1ers so the ship will be blown up when the player logs out while he was triggered by "/halt" command. The "/halt" command can be shutdown by playerB via docking with a station/jumphole/jumpgate or goin out of range with PlayerA (15k) but thats just an example. Of course i also can be used by police/navy/miliary to stop pirates or smugglers to use F1 and such things //EDIT: THE COMMAND WILL BE NOT COUNT AS ENGAGEMENT IN ANY FORM! RP will be still needed! ///EDIT: Make the command only possible to use before the green message is displayed... to make sure players cannot abuse it when anyone lost connection. (if FLhook allows to code the command this way) some players F1 before they come close enough... so the other player is not everytime able to blow his ship up for this. happy discussin'... do not flame:P Constructive Ideas/Feedback Overview: ' Wrote:Or, make it so the /halt command holds the ship who F1ed in space for a whole 5mins or summit, instead of 1. Solution for F1 abuse. - Stargoose - 11-25-2010 I like your thinking. But maybe a /destroy command which destroys the ship and cargo of who ever just f1ed on you, also giving you a blue message, for RP purposes, would be more practical. Solution for F1 abuse. - LEGION3592 - 11-25-2010 There are a few problems I can see with this issue: Players using it for no real reason except to be idiots about it, meaning that the player has to go and find a base to dock on or leave the system to disable it. This would be especially annoying for nomad players who cant dock anywhere except Iota/Chester/Unknown and would force them to make uneccesary trips out of system. Secondly is people /halt'ing others who attack them, e.g. the pirate being /halt'ed by thetrader he stopped, meaning he can't F1 out and has to go and find a base to dock at. Third is a trader or miner being /halt'ed but managing to outrun the attacker and get into deep space, normally this would mean they could F1 if they wish, and go about some other business for a while before relogging and trying to sneak out when things have calmed down. With any of these issues I can see uneccesary blue messages or people getting annoyed with disco because they were delayed from other activities due to having to spend extra time getting to a docking point. Personally, It would be good to implement, but, it would have to have a time out period, so players didn't have to 100% get to a base to disable it, or perhaps make it so that /halt just increases the f1 logout time. Solution for F1 abuse. - Anonymous User - 11-25-2010 Tanner... cause that the command will also disable when you are out of range to the other player I know this is possible with FLhook Solution for F1 abuse. - Alex. - 11-25-2010 If it only took effect on someone trying to F1 while the pirate that used /halt is still within scanner range, it could work. Solution for F1 abuse. - podgie_bear - 11-25-2010 Or just learn to live with it, the same way traders have to live with being mugged all the time by pirates? I have never understood why this game is so biased towards thieves and muggers (because that's what they are) when very few of them can be bothered to even RP a hold up. OK, I have been pirated by players who make an effort to RP and I quite happily pay up if they 'earn it' by acting the part. Unfortunately most of them just expect to make a threat and rake in the loot. For example, I was pirated about 2 hours ago and it went like this; Pirate 1: Stop your engines and pay 2 million. Me: I see, and which revolutionary faction am I supporting with this contribution? Pirate 2: Pay or die! Me: OK, and who do I pay it to? Pirate 1: 5 Pirate 1: 4 Me: Hang on I'm paying! Pirate 2: We'll kill you. Pirate 1: 3 (At this point he received the payment) Pirate 1: Ok, go. Now, is it any wonder we get fed up and want to avoid pirates when this is typical of what we have to put up with? So how about if we screenshot the incident to post on here and THEY get blown up? We need some way of making pirates earn their money by roleplaying properly instead of expecting us to be a constant source of cash they don't have to work for! Solution for F1 abuse. - hypermauler - 11-25-2010 WHat about, we teach some manners to those ''quitter'' The admin alreday make the use of colaking device very expansive. So, best guess is not to ignore these abuse for the service of the community, and do a quick report, with some key screen shots. Solution for F1 abuse. - Anonymous User - 11-25-2010 podgie... nobody has anything against avoiding pirates... but F1 is just lame... it is easy to avoid them i started SCS some weeks ago.... did not trade for months before and you know what... I was trading for hours! saw many pirates... BUT NEVER WAS PIRATED! cause I simply have the skill to avoid them without F1. and if you cannot do so... stop Q-Q and learn it... Solution for F1 abuse. - rupturex - 11-25-2010 What podgie_bear said makes sence, this is something that we all will have to deal with, f1 traders and lol pirates... It's impossible to stop that, but we can prevent by explaning and urging people to role play (doing our part) and punishing like the adms do with those who disobey the rules. Thats just the way it is... |
