I have been trying to buy a Mistral Light Fighter from Valence Base in Dauphine, but the game will not allow me to, even with Recruit ID, but I don't understand why. It has allowed me to by a Cuirrasier Heavy Fighter from this base using Recruit ID, so why not the Mistral?
Do I need to have Gallic Brigand ID to get it? And if so, how are you supposed to earn the ID/IFF if you can't buy a fighter there? Yes I could buy the Cuirrasier, but that means earning another million credits first.
It just seems stupid that it won't let me buy the basic LF though.

Yeah a few fighters are not yet availible to Recruit ID. Just let admins know,and i am sure they will fix it. Their was a post for it somewhere to inform staff which fighters needed fixing,i am just not sure where it was.

Yeah... I believe it was at first done to reduce the number of people flying with odd combinations of IDs and Ships.

PS: If possible get another ID which is allowed to fly their ships and then buy the recruit ID back.

You most definitely shouldn't buy caps with recruit ID.
