Evelyn Foster glanced around the opulent lobby as she walked into the Independent Neural Net offices aboard Newark Station. As she walked up to the gleaming wooden reception desk, a well-dressed secretary looked up and gave a practiced greeting smile. Evelyn took the que, "I'm here for an appointment."
The secretary glanced down at what Evelyn assumed was a computer screen before looking back at her. "Ms. Foster?"
"Yes."
"Thank you for coming," she said as the rose from behind the desk. and opened a door to the right. "The Vice President will be here to talk to you shortly."

The intercom on Otis's desk beeped. "Mr. Jethro," Alice, the receptionist said, "Your 3:30 is here and waiting in conference room B." Otis sighed, another meeting, but at least this would be his last of the day. All of these depositions were starting to tire him out. "Thanks Alice, I'll be out in a minute."
Standing up, Jethro put on his jacket, and made his way down to reception. Walking in conference room B, he saw a woman sitting at the end of the large table.
"Ms Foster I assume? Good to meet you, I am Otis Jethro. Not to be abrupt, but it's been a long day for me, why don't we get started. What can the IND help you with today?"

Evelyn smiled. "To be blunt. I need five hundred million credits."
Jethro nodded as he sat at the table. "Okay" he said slowly. "I'm going to need a bit more information lady."
"Of course. To be more informative, I need five hundred million credits as an investment, combined with three hundred million of my own, in the purchase of the privately-owned Detroit Munitions company. Ageira's partner. The legal requirements have already been dealt with. What we need from you, is the financial backing needed to pay the current owner's price. Your corporation will, of course, receive a percentage of the company's yearly dividends until the initial loan and all interest is paid off."
Otis tapped his fingers on the table. "If we're going to invest half a billion credits into this, we'll be wanting a stake in the ownership, not just a cut of profits."
Evelyn narrowed her eyes. "It will be my company, not another of your assets. Besides, they'd never agree to those terms. As their partner, Ageira has a pretty significant say in the deal. One of the restrictions they were adamant about was that, if I were to get funding from you, that you not have control over the company. To put it bluntly, they don't want it to be another IND acquisition. The most I could do would be to give you a portion of the shares, no higher than forty-nine percent. In other words, they don't want you having the controlling stock in the company." She watched as he leaned back in his chair, presumably thinking.

"Well then, how about forty percent? That way I own the majority of the stock, yet you still get your cut."
Evelyn didn't exactly like the idea, but she didn't really have much choice...

Otis leaned back in the chair, thinking about the deal being offered. "40% for 500 Mil, for 27 quarters, and we will make our investment plus on just the interest from the holdings." he thought to himself. "Yes, that works for us. I can have the paperwork done in a few hours if you care to enjoy lunch on the promenade, I am sure we can get this all sewed up today."
