The Centuriate Assembly - Lucend - 12-25-2007

Ships fly through the stratosphere of Crete and their pilots look down at the sleepy villas dotting the plains and plateaus and canyons. In the Northern Hemisphere, in one of the largest cities sits the Elder's Council Chambers, where in expensive leather chairs and displaying a semi-circular design house the main decision-making body of Corsair civilization. But, in an equally large building, blocky and grey, one block from the Chambers sits the imposing fortress that is the Centuriate Assembly.

Centurions are Corsair warriors that have risen above the average brother, sister or Ace. Through either diplomacy or out-right aggression they gain their titles and sit in the honored hall. Even though Elders do lead forces into battles and conquer systems, Centurions have a personal connection with the average grunt and it is because of this they can sometimes act in defiance of the Elders. The main hall can seat 20 -30 people easily with the High Centurion managing the body from a podium. The chairs are wooden or metal, the Centurions not caring for soft things or urban comforts.

The newly elected High Centurion walks into the hall and seats himself in front of his communication panel. Even though he is still considered an Elder, he acts as a go-between for the two legislative bodies.

This is your High Centurion Juan Lucendez. Even though it pains you to be away from your Centuries, I must call a session of the Assembly to both welcome new members and discuss recent events. Report to the Assembly immediately for introductions, and a warm welcome.
