The Story of Ogichidaa - Dieter Schprokets - 01-02-2008

His eyes looked over the abandoned camp. His despair was so deep he was now devoid of feeling.

They left me behind. They really left Sirius.

Ogichidaa had been on a raid in California 8 months ago, trying to get antibiotics when his tribe's supply had dwindled. He'd been captured by the Liberty Security Force, and thrown into Fairbanks prison in Alaska.

While in Fairbanks, he met two Nayehiya friends. Wabun-Ahnung and Bawshkinaway had been imprisoned 3 months after he had, and told him the elders were seriously considering exodus.

They knew they had to escape, so as to not be left behind.

With the aid of his new friends, Ogichidaa escaped from Fairbanks, via a plan which used a combination of bribery and brutal violence, better left forgotten. But the other two had been caught, and were likely now in solitary.

Now he stood looking at what was left of his tribe's base, and his family's camp. He was able to determine that his wife and daughter had had a creche near the base of a nearby cliff, but there was now no evidence that a living soul had been anywhere near here for several weeks.

They had given him up for dead, and moved on. There could be no other explanation. It was impossible to determine where they were headed. For obvious reasons, the Nayehiya did not leave behind any indication of their destination. Prudent, but now Ogichidaa had no way to find them.

But I will find you. The vow was silent, and determined.

But first I must determine where you went.

In the meantime, he would do what he did best; survive. A hard life makes one strong, and this Nayehiya warrior had had that, in spades.

And those who drove his people away would find him a hard enemy.
