Windows 7 SP1 *EDIT: BETA* - Fletcher - 01-15-2011

Hey folks, since I've not updated to SP1 yet, has anyone here done so? I don't think I have to my awareness, Windows 7 is a stable system without it so far, and I'd like to gauge the community before I take the M$ plunge.

Is it joy? Or:(?

EDIT: I apologize, it appears at least here that the SP1 is in BETA. Either way, here is a link:

Windows 7 SP1 *EDIT: BETA* - kindred - 01-15-2011

I'll wait at least a month after the release of the SP1 before installing it
when the final is released. Windows7 Ultimate 64bit is stable and in
my personal opinion the best operating system from Microsoft to date.

Windows 7 SP1 *EDIT: BETA* - Fletcher - 01-15-2011

I'm running the Pro version of Windows 7 64bit, the only complaint I got is I can't run the original Unreal Tournament, and lately the 1080p YouTube videos are cocking up my monitor, as in it goes blank for a bit then runs it.

Bleh.

Windows 7 SP1 *EDIT: BETA* - sadtranslation - 01-15-2011

My personal experience with Windows 7 wasn't that nice. It's with no doubts a good development of Windows Vista, but I'm getting more and more tempted to install a good old Windows XP, stable as hell, since none of new features made me happy.

Well, SP1 will be good, of course. I suppose in a couple of years Windows 7 will become a nice piece of software.

In 7's defence, XP was only great after SP2, it took years for it to be appreciated... well as well as Vista's folly.

Windows 7 to me was great out of the gates. I just hope there are some stability issues with some Steam program, i.e Team Fortress 2 and alt-tabbing. I wish.

Windows 7 SP1 *EDIT: BETA* - Cond0r - 01-15-2011

Yep, I agree. I've used 7 for some time, but eventually got back to XP anyway. Theres just no beating XP in terms of performance, not yet anyway.

Windows 7 SP1 *EDIT: BETA* - Fletcher - 01-15-2011

Come on, XP WILL be better in performance, only because it demands less memory and CPU.

XP is brilliant, I will never deny that, but we've got to move on sometime.
