I feel, very strongly, that this game would be 200% better if we used microphones during game-play.
What do you think?
I also would like to know if any factions/groups do use microphones on a regular basis.

We use it in CR every now and then for calling targets and such, but only when the majority has a mic available.

Ye, its nice and easy with mike, but can be pain in the ass when you are with 5+ in group.

That, though I imagine on the long term it's not any more disturbing than pretending to be spaceship captains in an internet game.

I tried that with Lutz back in 2009, the sound was crappy and not everyone is a native speaker nor has a good grasp of English speaking, which causes interesting dialogues to form. =)
It would be better than the one liner chat screen though.

Never used it during in game play, but have used it for chatting and discussion when people can't be bothered typing.
The /CS/ discussions after Watsas left spring to mind, though they didn't often stay on topic.

i do have a microphone, but i dont use it for freelancer because english is not my native language, i do speak fluently tough
and the use of micros wouldn't boost the swearing around here? =X
but overall yes with would be a good idea... but imagine NY, it would sound like a market place with so many people talking at the same time O_o
