Chances are the cancelled Freelancer 2 project is collecting dust somewhere in Micro$haft's basement and will continue to do so in the foreseeable future.
Hell they won't even release the source code for Freelancer after a series of petitions. Unless M$ is convinced that Freelancer 2 will make them a ridiculous amount of money, which it won't since Freelancer is a long forgotten gem hidden by many big names, they'll continue to ignore us fans in small pockets of dying communities.

I disagree, communities are not dying...they are rather passing through a quick evolution from gaming communities to museums.
Dn't throw your old computer away...store it and play freelancer forever! Oh and make sure you have children...to pass this game on.
