Independent Miners Guild - Technology Licensing

[color=#CCFFFF]The Guild's leadership hereby introduces a new procedure of technology licensing to share its technologocal equipment with allies of the Guild.

[font=Times New Roman]
[color=#99FFFF]1. Eligibility for Technology Licensing

Thus only the following groups are potentially eligible for applying for IMG technology:

a) Individuals that have been working for the IMG for a long time and contributed significant work

These can be long time Bounty Hunters or Mercenaries working for the IMG Bounty Board, dedicated suppliers of IMG bases, or other people who have significantly contributed to IMG. Reporting your IMG-related activities to the GuildComms is also important.

[font=Arial]b) Official requests by factions or individuals who are recommended by their leadership.

Usually, if we accept your request with the second way (b), we will ask to compensate money for the production of the requested IMG technology.

If you don't meet one of the two the criteria don't request! You won't get a positive answer, unless we are very interested in you and we assign you in a special mission which if you are successful, it will give what you were looking for.

[font=Times New Roman]2. Shared Technology

2.1 Shipline

The IMG decided to open the IMG shipline to trusted allies.

Manaslu - IMG Light Fighter

One of the first ships developed in the Himalayan line, the Manaslu is a radical departure away from the traditionally sleek lines associated with the Colonial EVO series. The original design specifications called for a vessel with the firepower of the old EVO-1B "Charon" class fighter, but the maneuverability of the Eagle series. Midway during the design cycle, it became apparant a choice had to be made, as a heavier power core and weapons control system made the design sluggish. The result yielded two ships, the lighter Manaslu class fighter which favors maneuverability and speed, and the heavier Lhotse class fighter.

The Manaslu is often employed as a patrol ship. Cheap to produce and maintain, the ship relies on superior numbers rather then individual strength to defend IMG installations and convoys.

Lhotse - IMG Very Heavy Fighter

When it became apparent that even the Manaslu class fighters could not match the staying power of the old Colonial "Nyx" class fighters they were replacing, IMG engineers set out to modify the design to increase its endurance. The resulting vessel is a brutal heavy fighter, with a large power core to power the strongest fighter shield and weapon arrays yet known to the IMG. Additional engine blocks were needed to power the ship, but even with them maneuverability suffered significantly.

While more expensive than the Manaslu, the Lhotse is considered the workhorse of the IMG fleet, serving in many roles ranging from protecting convoys, to heavy patrols.

Nanda Devi - IMG Bomber

Late in the Himalayan line's design cycle it became apparant to the IMG shipwrights that an answer to heavy capital vessels had to be found. The need was acute after Gallia was revealed. The solution chosen was a practical one: Mate a freighter-sized power core with a stripped down version of the Lhotse frame, and finetune the design afterward. While visually similar to the Lhotse, the Nanda Devi class bomber is anything but the same. With dual dedicated torpedo slots, a seperate cruise disruptor slot, and the ability to power freighter sized shields, the vessel is a small flying fortress that can do massive damage. It however does not maneuver well, and is vulnerable to enemy fighters and gunboats.

Pressed into service two months after the first prototype was completed, the Nanda Devi is an unproven design that IMG engineers believe shows considerable potential.

Gasherbrum - IMG Gunboat

A replacement for the Colonial "Hydra" class gunboats was needed as it became apparant that the Houses started to object to seeing Colonial combat ships within their space. The Gasherbrum is similar in design and performance, being a little wider, but shorter. Designed in an extremely short time for a ship it's size, the Gasherbum is pushed into service with several issues still unresolved. The ship has been designed with future upgrades in mind.

Despite being unproven, this vessel is set to be produced in significant numbers to defend IMG convoys from enemy bombers.

Nanga Parbat - IMG Transport

An offshoot of the Annapurna miner, the Nanga Parbat features much of the same basic framework. The mining array has been replaced with additional cargo pods, making the vessel an effective short to medium range transport. It is most frequently used to ship goods over small distances, ferrying between the various mining outposts and ore rich asteroid fields.

Like the Annapurna, the Nanga Parbat is a no-nonsense, cheap vessel that is easy to maintain.

2.2 Weaponry

The IMG opens its complete line of weapons for share.

IMG Vampire Guns

A highly energy efficient, high refire, high velocity weapon that deals moderate damage. A good choice on craft with a smaller power core, or for pilots that prefer continuous fire.

IMG Gunboat Turret

A gunboat turret produced by the Independent Miners Guild. In addition to IMG, this turret is available on the Sirius black market and is used by certain civilian and pirate factions.

IMG Cruiser Turret

A cruiser turret produced by the Independent Miners Guild. In addition to IMG, this turret is available on the Sirius black market and is used by certain civilian and pirate factions.

IMG Battleship Secondary Turret

A battleship turret produced by the Independent Miners Guild. In addition to IMG, this turret is available on the Sirius black market and is used by certain civilian and pirate factions.

Begin message:

Hi there. Zachary Lucas here, just calling to give you all an update on the use of some of your tech. See, a while back, I got permission to mount a few of your Vampire weapons on my Eagle, and I'm pleased to say they've been quite effective at doing their job. But the point of this message is to let you know that I've changed my official callsign. See, at the time that I sent in the request for your guns, I was still flying around as "Zukeenee". Recently, though, I decided it would seem a bit more official if I just went by my real name, as opposed to a silly old nickname of mine.

So, if you folks want to update your list of who you've allowed your tech to, you can swap out the "Zukeenee" up there with just plain "Zachary.Lucas". Same pilot, same deal, different name. And I just thought you all should know that.

End message.

Greetings good sirs of the Independant Miner's Guild. I come to you today representing a group of Junkers calling themselves the "Colts". We're a paramilitary group formed to protect Junker interests throughout Sirius when diplomacy has failed, primarily with such groups as the Artisan Farmer's Alliance and Black Dragon Society.

I come to you today, on the offhand chance that your guild might wish to conduct some business with us. We have frequented the Tau systems, both trading in such items as Niobium and Beryllium, as well as hunting down our enemies, the aforementioned Kusarian pirates.

We are a small group, interested more in efficiency than overwhelming numbers. If you feel the IMG could make use of our abilities in shooting down pirate vessels (A / B destruction ) or trade, we would be honoured to conduct some business with your organization.

All the best,
~Leo van Pelt

Subject: Tech Usage request.

Greetings Gentlemen.

Let me introduce myself. My name is Raphael Lisinsky and I'm captain of Democritus class yacht "Chasselas". I'm independent Freelancer/Researcher/Philanthropist and Adventurer.

As we all know Sirius is a dangerous place and having my ship shoot many times I know how important is right defense system on your vessel. O my weapons research i found lately your position:

Class Five IMG B9a-3t "Vampire 3" Tachyon Turret.

Analyzing range damage rate and energy consumption i know that this weapon is exactly what "doctor ordered" *quiet chuckle*

And now I'm asking you to right to use 4 ps of this fine equipment purely for self defense purpose only.

Hopefully my message will find you in good health. Will wait on Your response with great impatience.

Thank You for Your time.

Comms ID: Senator Cletus Morales – Venator Private Security.
Location: VPS Senate Headquarters – New London Orbit.

Greetings gentlemen,
First of all I’d like to update the status of our IMG equipment usage, as of now all IMG vessels and weaponry have been decommissioned, and returned to IMG hands.

Well, now let’s get into the bulk of this request, it is a highly unusual one, but is given in all sincerity. The fact is that as of now VPS does not own any docking facilities, be it stations or asteroid bases. While we do rent docking space for our Headquarters (as of now housed in a Bretonian Royal Liner) and have office space in Kensington Station, we are having a serious problem in respect to the rest of our fleet, mostly composed of fighters and bombers.

Logistically, for our engineers, this decentralization is a nightmare, but more importantly the incessant traffic, the increasingly longer time required to dock and undock from crowded stations and most of all, as members of the IMG I am sure you can understand the wish to be independent and not reliant on others, combined with the cost or renting these docking facilities which, if you look closely, for an increasingly growing number of ships is becoming quite substantial, has led us to make this request.

After a long deliberation, as well as a thorough cost/benefit analysis, our Senate has come to the conclusion that the purchase of one of the Independent Miners Guild’s Zephyr class carrier, while I am sure that you are aware is an incredibly large investment for a company of our economical weight, would be in Venator Private Security’s best interests; financially and of course politically, gaining further independence from the houses and showing that VPS is not a small merc band.

The Zephyr class, while an incredibly powerful vessel, is also most importantly known as the best and most efficient vessel carrier out there, a crowning achievement of IMG engineering, and is known to be able to be largely self sufficient, requiring relatively low amount of resupplying, due to its nature of being the bulk of extra solar expeditionary fleets. It is these qualities that we were searching for, the vessel itself we be used primarily as a carrier, to house and maintain our fighter/bomber fleet, while itself requiring minimum resupplying and being able to be used in deep space as a *pseudo* station of sorts, and will stay out of house space, as to not provoke the wrath of the authorities.

Furthermore seeing the colossal investment we are putting in this vessel, we cannot afford unless under the most *Extreme* situations (and I do stress extreme) to put it in any form of combat situation.
In the *Extremely rare* (again stressing the extreme) scenario where this ship will have to defend itself; as a strictly lawful mercenary company, the ship itself will be only be used defensively to repel pirate attacks on the vessel itself.

VPS is a neutral security company and does not take part in any engagements between the houses or against corsair or outcast fleets, and of course does not engage members of the IMG and their allies, and in fact we hope to be doing more business with you, or more neutral factions such as the Zoners.

We do realize that while this is a colossal investment for ourselves, we understand that the production of these vessels will stress the IMG shipyards, and while we are investing great amounts of credits, we are open for negotiating an additional fee if required, and of course we do not require the latest of IMG combat technology, we are open to purchasing one of your Zephyr class that is close to decommission date, or one that has been converted to a strictly “carrying”, or expeditionary vessel.

While we have done business with the IMG in the past under an informal status, we would be ready to additionally negotiate the terms of a full contract, under very reduced fees, may it be escorting or protection of your miners (In Tau-23, Dublin, or any other sector)

Again thank you for bearing with me for this unusual request.

Regards
Senator Cletus Morales --- Venator Private Security.

Mr Lucas, thank you for updating your roster entry. We generally don't mind people changing the designation of their vessel as long as our records are updated to reflect it. Joining another organization (especially a competitor of ours) is another matter. Your terms, naturally, are unchanged.

Mr. Sidhe, thank you for bringing the Discordian situation to our attention. When we centralized this channel we had to go back several years - it's possible we missed a few entries. I must assume that [TAZ]The.Meat.Grinder was redesignated [TAZ]Panda?

Mr. Van Pelt, if I am not misstaken, what you offer us is your services as a mercenary force. While we don't particulary mind having a few extra cannons for hire around our Tauside bases (or even in Dublin for that matter, considering how often the Hogosha cause us hassles there) this channel is designed for IMG technology licensing and updates thereto. Were you wishing to receive payment in the form of access to our designs?

Mr. Slainte, as our primary shipper I see no reason to deny Gateway the access to our Atlas class ore transport. You are free to acquire these vessels for "Gateway)" tagged vessels, provided you can spare a sum of 10.000.000 credits per vessel (payable to IMG|Guildfunds) to compensate for the additional costs incurred for producing this vessel. Proof of payment, and the designation of the vessel should be posted to this channel prior to scheduling construction, preferably at the Aland facility.

Mr. Lisinsky, yours is an unusual request. Could you perhaps provide a little more background into yourself? What is it exactly, you research, and where? Whom are you affiliated with, if anyone? Even as a free-roaming scientist, you'd likely wish to publish your findings from time to time, I imagine. I'm leaning towards granting your request, but I'd need to know who, or what, you most often run into. It is very important to the Guild that licensing our technology does not end up causing us problems.

Mr. Morales, your request will be highly troublesome. For an independent, nonaffiliated mercenary company to be given access to a Zephyr class carrier... this would be a first, if I'm not misstaken. Not only would you have a hell of a time attempting to supply a vessel of this magnitude, moving it through house space from place to place, would be a diplomatic timebomb. I will leave the actual decision to our defense director, as he has the final say in technology sharing matters that are controversial, but I do not expect it to end up in your favor. If you feel to absolutely need a carrier for your purposes, perhaps the OSI would grant you an Aquilion class carrier. In the past we worked with the Zoners to create that design as a mobile starbase, rather then the interstellar exploration carrier that the Zephyr is. The Aquilion has a greater self-sufficience then the Zephyr, especially when it comes to lifesupport, and will thus function more efficiently as a mobile base for permanent inhabitance.
Unless reversed by our defense director, mr. Matterson, your request for the Zephyr will be denied.
That said, I have heared good things about Venator, a few recommendations from our trader and escort groups suggest your mercenaries work out well as convoy escort. I would not mind solidifying relations with your group - but that is best done outside of this channel.

Regards,
- Johnathan Sanders, on behalf of the Independent Miners Guild

Mr. Sanders, I feel I must clarify a few points. We are not guns for hire per say, but our enemies appear to also be the enemies of your mining fleets in the Tau regions. The Colts are not looking for a job, so much as the equipment to complete our goals most effectively.

We are a small force, Mr. Sanders, and every sub-par ship and inefficient weapon greatly diminishes our combat potential. Which is why we have come to a group such as yourselves, whom I feel would benefit from our actions, and has the tools we seek.

2 "Nyx" fighter craft, and an adequate cache of Vampire turrets, guns and spare parts to equip between 5 to 10 ships, are our specific needs. Let me know how we can make this happen, good sir.

Mr Sanders,

First of all thank you for you promptly response, especially to a request this unusual.

We of course are well aware of the difficulty of supplying such a vessel, but the Senate is convinced we can manage, baring any sudden drop in our finances or any shifts in the market, for an extended period of time.
If the political ramifications, and how they will reflect on the IMG are what is worrying you, then rest assured the vessel itself was never (again baring *highly* unusual circumstances, and even so; right of passage by the house governments would be sought long beforehand) meant to enter or traverse house space.

As for the Zoners, while their vessels are feats of engineering, the reputation of quality and reliability of IMG ships are what motivated this request in the first place.

Again we are not trying to put the IMG in a difficult position, and it is quite understandable that such a request would be controversial, yet are hopeful that our reliability on this matter will help your defense bureau lean towards our favor.

Regardless of the answer we look forward to hearing from your defense director.

On another note we would gladly draw a contract between our two institutions, and are looking forward to solidifying the relations between our two groups. But as you have noted those are talks for more private channels.

Regards
Senator Cletus Morales --- Venator Private Security.
