Okay, for the longest time I've heard the stories of how dumb pirates are. They run in, scream they want 1mil creds or die!, and blow you up in 5 seconds if you don't comply. As a trader, I've seen a lot of this. But for the past several days, I've been flying around in a Slave Liner full of slaves. And it's not to make money, I have plenty of it. I just wanted to see how police react to almost the same situation.

Alas after flying between Liberty and Rheinland for three to four days without being stopped once I finally saw a system with promising outlook. A bunch of tagged navy and tagged police officers all hanging out in one area so I took my cargo full of slaves, picked up some police npc pilots and headed in.
As I ran into the system, I flew in with the intention of getting caught to see what happens. How the other side of the law handles a trader dealing with illegal goods.

Well this is the sad part, I got "Hand over the slaves in 1o seconds or DIE!" treatment. I tried my hardest explaining to the tagged officer, if he blew up my ship many of the slaves would die. We had a hostage situation. Something that would require, dun dun dun roleplay to resolve. I was hoping to try some kind of rp to deal with it. Anything, but as soon as I said that I got another 10 seconds to drop your cargo or die. I once again explained it would be better if we could come to some sort of agreement, or arrangement for their safe passage somewhere. Then the count down came from 5, 4, 3, you know the rest.

So, I'm tried of hearing all this crap on pirates. The police are just as bad.
I'm kind of disappointed I guess. I was hoping smuggling was slightly more interesting then trading. It's already a lot less profitable. But it's the same thing.

Yes, police are just as bad as pirates.

There are significantly more pirates than police, and the police have more restrictions and aren't out for profit. Thus, the problem with pirates is larger than the problem with police. Priorities.

In this situation, please PM the leader of the faction which the police guy belonged to, or use a feedback thread, if he was part of an official faction. If he was an indy, welcome to Disco.

Also, moved out of Flood.

Hellfire Legion frees slaves navy kills them!

oh wait this isn´t Hell FM propaganda time?

oh well yeah ur right. Though normally LPI does handle such things in the way I (and you too apparently too) expect them too.

Xenos and Hellfire Legion on the other hand tend to RP freeing these slavers (and no this isn't biased because I am a HF myself, I once participated in such a thing, was one of the most awesome RP experiences I ever had)

I've had two major encounters with slavers while I've been around that had quite a bit of role-play involved.

During one, we escorted the slaver to the prison in Texas and then transferred them off the ship. It was great and a cooperative effort between the slaver, me, and two indy police pilots that happened along.

During the second, the slaver ended up dumping his cargo in space while we were being attacked by npc's and vaporizing them himself - then protested his innocence when we were continuing to try to arrest him. We ended up vaporizing him then for mass murder when he tried to run.

Either I'm in the wrong spot, or we're just not running into slavers that often that in 3 years, only two encounters come to mind...

[color=#000000]Well, I wanted to try the same I think and I traded slaves across Liberty, than cardamine back to Galileo, than softwares to the hessians, etc. etc. and I did it without any harm or anybody who asked for about them. Since I've met some official and independent policemen, it was so odd. But anyway, it looks like you had a worst experience, since I didnt enjoy the 10 sec and DAI encounter.

Bundespolizei Rheinland blown you up?
Bad, bad Bundespolizei. Very bad.
I think they all should be fired now.

Please, contact me on Skype if you have questions concerning the incident.

0800-EAT-MY-STRUDEL, because I'm pretty sure it's the case you are referring to.

I'll start out by saying that many lawful players are burnt out on the whole hostage taking deal. We (LPI) will not negotiate with hostage takers.

That being said, the police player in question should have asked you to take the slaves to the nearest lawful station before destroying your ship. Well, if he was an LPI- player. That -used- to be the standard protocol of us. Things may have changed though... Like the others said, please contact the faction leader of the player in question or post about it in their feedback thread. That way the player can be informed and corrected.

Then there's the other side: A lot of slavers just prefer to suddenly fire up cruise and disappear while the role play-minded lawfuls he ran into are typing their thing.

To prevent that from happening, I understand that a lot of people are quicker with the trigger.

You say it should have been resolved with RP? Well theres nothing stopping that, post pictures of them destroying a transport full of slaves on the com channel, decry them ala Lane Hackers, give it as propaganda for whichever house they are fighting.

Use yer noodle and come up with something excellent.
