I have a problem - mang109 - 01-30-2011 So, Ive been playing Discovery for 2 years now. Freelancer since the day it came out, so that must be near 7 years now? . Well, I have now reached a point where I can no longer kid myself- I really really suck at the game itself. I can't kill anything. The only real kills I have had in my 2 years here have been Bomber Vs transport or Gunboat vs something smaller. And sometimes my bombers have been almost killed by said transports, which is just embarrasing. Now I've made up for this by enjoying other aspects of discovery- some of you may think it mad, but Ive always loved trading and trade RP. I have a character for every trade faction (not all official though), and for any faction which can concievable trade. I have collected every transport, and run every RP route I can come up with for each faction. I have now done it to death. Credits mean nothing to me, and I can find nothing new to do with trading/mining. And I am bored. I have, as a last ditch attempt, tried Pure RP. I.e set up a ship that has no other use other than RP. This was just too painful, I got no fun from it at all. So , Disco Community- Give me any other ideas, something you do thats fun but not mainstream. I'm dying out here, pvp appears to be my last resort, and each failed pvp encounter is bringing me closer to packing it all in. Edit: Actually, short of 1 trade faction, Ive not got an IND:( I have a problem - Korny - 01-30-2011 Well, as for PvP, I suggest you to visit Connecticut once in a while and just match up with others in there. Trust me, with a bit of time you'll learn and get better. We all started somewhere didn't we ? Also feel free to add me on skype, I'm sure I can give you a tip or two. This was just too painful, I got no fun from it at all. That's what I've been doing for uh...long and it was the best move I've ever done in here. Except for registering on forums. Why was it painful for you? If you had anything bigger then a gunboat, then the pain is to be expected. Other then that, you could do mining with someone. Or join the police (not military) and harass traders. Or join the [Angels]. I have a problem - Evan_ - 01-30-2011 Buy a bomber, go pirate. Or join a pirate faction. Popping transports so resembles PVP that some captains even confuse the two and try to attack you. If nothing else, you'll have a collection of blue messages to boast to your grandsons about. But the second something lawful finds me im toast. I have a problem - VoluptaBox - 01-30-2011 I suck at PvP as well. But just now I invaded Eta with the Sails. Was still fun... As for RP..I like LSF, plenty of stuff to do, even if at each PvP event we get our arses kicked. Or just get a super mean bomber/gunboat and gank traders. That alwasy gets my self-estime up:D I have a problem - Evan_ - 01-30-2011 ' Wrote:Ah yes, my Waran is fun for nuking transports indeed. It sucks being bottom of the pit, but it is pretty much where everyone starts. You can try it in Connecticut, or for a more forgiving experience, turn up to an official faction training session. (If you are part of that official faction.) Learn strafing, sub-targeting, engine killing and effective use of CD and mines. (Probably a few things I have missed, but it is late, and I am tired.) It takes time. Do not be disappointed. Oh, and pick someone to "train" against that you can stand and who can give you feedback.:) I have a problem - Dart - 01-30-2011 ' Wrote:So, Ive been playing Discovery for 2 years now. Freelancer since the day it came out, so that must be near 7 years now? . join BMM. sure we get lolwutted by mollys, KNF, gaians, sairs, other mean people, but its enjoyable to RP a miner. its also one of the RPs that don't get boring when in a group. and yes dublin will give you headaches, but thats why you stick in a group. (in short if you like the thrill of mining in a fully fledge mining operation in open space with the risk of getting shot and a group engagement, join in,) @ highlighted text: you are just waiting for a disappointment. too many lolwuts in the server isn't going to fix that. I have a problem - Govedo13 - 01-30-2011 Buy Sabre or even better eagle slap merc ID register to the bounty boards and start to look for targets. They will blast you at the beginning but there is a learn effect. I personally dont like Conn,I was there 2 or 3 times only, but if you find someone who is good PvPer to train you it is good option. First thing that you need to do is to try different weapons/load outs/ships in order to find what fits your fighting still. If you have bad aim for example dont go for 2.0 600 speed codes. If you have good snac/razor aim use this weapons. If you can feel when to drop mine trap use nukes with mosquito cd, if not then use Screamers, getting good vhf/bomber is very important. If you go for bomber use Roc, full emps snac and screamer, I cannot down only LFs in it. If you need good fighter and you have bad aim go for RM VHF with the nice fast guns- Hornvipers. If you rely on your speed go for LF- Liberator for example, Waran is good bomber but I dont use it solo since it cannot take down other bombers/VHFs, Roc can. Actually loosing in bomber against someone who can fly ships in VHF is normal even for the best pilots. So find your best suiting pew-sticks and your best suiting vhf and start to train. |
